High expectations and higher disappointment! The place had the menu of being stellar Nepalese food, but it lacked the flavor and the service.

The place was dead. Zero lighting in the restroom, unromantically dim lights in the seating area, and service that lacked any form of engagement. The staff was ready to pack up and leave when we arrived roughly 80 minutes before closing time. It showed in their service.

We called for the Chicken steamed momos along with the Chicken Chowmein.

Chicken momos: They were alright. Slightly dense dough, good portions of the minced chicken that was flavorful, but the dough made it slightly heavy tasting than the ones we’ve had in other places. The sauce is high on vinegar and tomatoey, not the chili sauce we’ve usually had with momos. It’s a preference over taste, perhaps.

Chicken Chowmein: The noodles had Nepalese spices with hints of soy sauce and vinegar. The noodles were doused in chili flakes, were cooked well, but the chicken was inedible. Very chewy, rubbery, and not cooked in some bites. We called the waitress to let her know and she flatly remarked that it’s the same chicken as butter chicken. Are we to read this as two dishes that are inedible and nothing that can be done? She never said a word/asked for what could be done or apologized and walked away.

Not recommended if you are seeking ambiance, not recommended if you want friendly service, not recommended if you are looking for flavor. Himalayan Hut “peaks” disappointment.

Food was AMAZING. I had chicken curry and asked for no spicy knowing it would still be a little spicy and it was PERFECT. Little spicy but not unbearable. Super super yummy. Would recommend again and will definitely be back.

The resturante feels very dated. We had the buffet with mixed results. There was one or two dishes that were hot and tasted good. The others were cold and we did not eat those. The one person working was very friendly and brought us fresh rice and hot naan. Not sure we would do the buffet again but a togo order might be an option.

Amazing food. You won’t think you’re gonna like it, but when you’re eating more than you ever have before, you’ll be back here writing your own 5 star review.
Great lunch, absolutely delicious. Great service. Well worth it!

We got a couple of things to share and try, portion sizes weren’t huge but we thought a good value for the money, we were the only customers in there and the inside was definitely in need of a redo/ upgrade. We really enjoyed all of our food, did find 2 small bones in the chicken tikki marsala

Food was good, (I got the butter chicken). Mango Lassie was excellent. Unfortunately, portion sizes were odd and very small for the price.
We had a larger group. We got there around 7. The staff started to turn lights off on us around 8:30, so we had to leave. Closing time was listed at 9:30. I understand staff wanting to get home, but for the price of the food, I thought we should be allowed to stay a little longer. Also odd for a week night. Not the most welcoming experience.

I’ve been visiting this restaurant regularly for almost 10 years now. In my opinion Himalayan Hut is the best Indian and Nepalese food in St Louis! The servers are always courteous and they are all wonderful familiar faces now. Here’s to many more years!

The food was just ok. The way the food tasted $100 was too expensive. The paneer curry we ordered was very bad it tasted like the paneer and green peppers were tossed in ketchup and served. The vegetable kurma had zucchini peas and broccoli and nothing much and was very sweet. The roti was too thick and dry. The garlic nan was very thick and uncooked. The only two things which were good was the vegetable momos and paneer pakora. Of course service was fast.

Loved it!!!!!…. I really enjoyed the lamb curry quite spicy as we told. We ordered non veg thali. In which 4-5 items were there. Samosa is ok ok. It might be because I don’t like much. Other curries sag paneer and dal makhni was average good but better than other restaurant. I love the rice pudding here. It’s so so delicious. I ordered veg Momos also which was ok ok. I don’t like it’s sauce that’s not spicy and not for momos too. Nice experience it was!

Everyone right. Got shrimp korma. The container was half full and was charged $20. Never had Korma this way. Flavor was good but not great. Very liquidated. The cheese naan was great. Will not go back
