Christmas with excellent server Christina @Vola’s Dockside is THE place to be! I thought I was alone in this town until I strolled into Old town Virginia’s restaurant Vola’s. I was seated in Christina’s section and she brought so much joy and positivity along with her full knowledge of the menu and awesome explanation of options! Let me tell you, the music atmosphere and all of the folks who also joined the same section mame my Christmas so so happy!

Our server, Stephanie, was a joy as well. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave wonderful recommendations (it was our first time there).
While we were there, we noticed the restrooms being cleaned, which is always nice.

I’ve been sleeping on this place but so glad I finally went today after watching Santa ski on the waterfront. Our server Joe went above and beyond! This place knows service! Anticipating needs, team table coverage, being allergic to the bare minimum… I really enjoyed my dinner with my daughter on the patio. The food was fresh and impressive too. Freddie the manager was also friendly and positive. Thank you guys.

This was our first time patronizing Vola’s. It did not disappoint. We had a great experience. We were nicely greeted and shown to a table with a nice view. Our server Jennifer D was very sweet and paid particular attention to my lemon allergy. Our food came in a timely fashion and was delicious. MUST GO TO VOLAS IN ALEXANDRIA! I was blown away by how delicious every single dish was! Excellent food and excellent service – the host was lovely, our waitress was awesome, the manager also checked on our table – top tier. We also got to enjoy a beautiful view. Highly recommend. The sea bass and grouper (catch of the day) were my favorite. Everything was scrumptious.

Great atmosphere. Even sitting inside it is easy to get a seat by the windows where you can see the water.
Food was mostly very good. Crab hushpuppies used fresh crab and had a spicy kick. Crispy on the outside. Would get again.
I also had the Blackened Salmon. Loved the Farro and tomatoes it comes with. The salmon itself had two issues; not blackened/seasoned enough and no skin. The fish still tasted good overall which is why this rating is a 5. Would be happy to visit again!

Given the location the place is almost always fairly crowded. However on weekdays it’s not so crowded that you can’t find seating. The place is actually smaller than you’d expect from outside.
Service can be prompt but sometimes the waiter disappeared so you may have wait a bit for your waiter to appear again. I think out of location, service and food, service is probably the weakest link.
Overall the food is decent. I liked the crab cakes as it’s really lump size which is great. There isn’t a lot of fillings which is the way I like. The lobster roll is small but the price is not outrageous so it’s ok. I think the grilled shrimps are better than fried shrimps. The only miss is the calamari as the flavor on the breading is too salty and the calamari is not very fresh.
I do like the oyster though as they are fresh and delicious.

Phenomenal seafood and more spot! Wonderful staff, my server, Tiffany, worked with me carefully to address my dietary restrictions, and she was quick and helpful through the service! The steak and atmosphere topped off the experience, with a wonderful holiday vibe!
