Had dinner at El Toro Steakhouse on River St tonight with the husband. I started by trying to make a reservation for 6:30 tonight, this morning. They called me in the early afternoon to let me know that 6:30 was not available, I could have 5pm or 7:30pm. We decided to go with 5pm, and I was actually excited to hear it would be too busy at our original time. We arrived at 5pm and got a nice table. Our waitress was really nice and super helpful. I asked her if it was always busy, she only works weekends and said it has been consistently busy since opening in Nov. She also shared that a lot of people staying at Great Wolf come to dinner there as well as people mentioning they are coming from the surrounding cities/towns. By 6pm, every table was taken and the place was packed!
We figured we would splurge, get the salads, steak entrees that come with sides, a bottle of wine, and a dessert to share. Our bill was comparable to other steak houses, a smidgen less expensive, but comparable to the likes of Gibbet Hill or 111 Steakhouse. Our entrees (new York strip & rib eye) averaged $50 a plate, but there were options for half of that, like their half chicken or steak tips. Our salads, if you added a protein, could be meals by themselves.
The atmosphere reminded of some cool spots we’ve eaten at in Portland Maine, 100% did not feel like we were on River St in the Burg.
Steaks were cooked perfectly, sides were delicious, and we brought home enough of our salads and entrees to enjoy again tomorrow for lunch. So to get 2 meals out of it, definitely good!
We shared the Irish cheese cake with Baileys for dessert, it was delicious.
If you have a special occasion or just want a quality meal, I definitely recommend this place! Don’t drive to Worcester or Boston, enjoy it right in Fitchburg! We’ll definitely go back to try some of the other dishes!

I finally made it there. I’ve been hearing positive things about this place and it’s been on my to go list. Decided Id go for a date night for Anniversary, surprisingly I didn’t make a reservation ( so out of character for me) because I thought it’s Fitchburg, I’ll get in …well think again & thank God the staff was courteous and caring , they accommodated us on a busy Friday night. Upon entering , I was pleased with the ambiance, the host was pleasant as well as all staff we encountered including the owners who were there . Kudos to the chef, the food is heavenly!!! Perfectly seasoned , texture and presentation . No worries about peanut allergies like me, they stay away from that in house because the owners have same allergy.
Food portion is more than enough ( you may need doggy bag) , and price – your typical range and I’d say even a bit more economical for what you’re getting .. this is definitely a keeper for me. I’ll go back again and again and easy recommendation too. Well done El Taro because my hubby and I are are not the easiest to please . I’ve been in tourism all my life and secretly be looking out for flaws, and he’s analyzes everything more than I do.

Holly was awesome. Wasn’t sure what to expect to be totally honest (don’t let the outside fool you). I got there around 4:15 , shortly after El Toro opened and was warmly greeted. I was asked if I wanted some cornbread (take the cornbread) and the piece disappeared quicker than it hit the table. Melted in my mouth. Incredible corn bread. I had the matador margarita, very refreshing and could tell it was house made mix. Had the crab cakes for an appetizer…they were amazing. Small portion, but packed a lot of flavor and cooked perfectly. For an entrée I had the 8oz filet mingon with a side of garlic mashed and green beans. 10/10. I was genuinely happy eating this meal. 100% will be back. Took the gram cracker brownie with buttercream frosting home for dessert…it was killer. Whole experience was solid, very glad I took the time to go visit. Pricey, but worth every dollar. Glad to have a quality steakhouse in the area. They’re bound for big things!

By far the best dining experience I’ve had in Fitchburg and Central Mass. This is a must visit place. I tried the 32 OZ long bone ribeye with El Torro bourbon glaze, garlic mash potatoes with asparagus (it was AMAZING). Also tried the spinach artichoke dip with pita chips, their triple chocolate mouse. Their pear and apple smoked El Torro Old Fashion was stunning (now a new favorite). The place is a must and the food, quality, atmosphere, and price were all great.

Took my wife in there today to have a what we hoped would be a good dinner. We’re glad to say it turned into a fantastic dinner!!! My wife had a bowl of French Onion soup for starters and for her main course she had the lobster ravioli. I had the French Onion soup to start and the 16 ounce Rib Eye done rare with the garlic butter, the garlic mashed potatoes, and fresh green beans. To end it off we shared a piece of cherry cheese cake that was out of this world!!! The staff was fantastic the owners were on site. The establishment was clean and very nice. My wife and I just came back from Vegas and ate at Giata’s which is a very famous Italian restaurant. Well I’m here to tell you that our El Toro Steakhouse has better Lobster ravioli than them!!! There Onion soup best we have had. Ribeye is to die for!!! Keep it up guys. Well worth the money and we’ll definitely be back!!!

I will definitely come back here. Kevin cooked my steak and it was done perfectly. I watched him through the entirre process and it was like watching a Master Class video by Gordon Ramsey. I ordered the Cowboy steak and my date ordered the braised short rib. Theresa, the bar tender was very personable. Possibly new to the role and I’m sure she will do well. The chef, James, let us sample the butternut apple bisque, it was amazing. Another woman made us our coffee drinks and unfortunately I did not get her name. I’m going to go back there and I strongly recommend you give them a try. This is a steak house so do not expect chain restaurant prices. It is worth the money.

Unfortunately not a place I would probably go back to… For the prices, you can get better food at your better know restaurants serving steaks (longhorn, Texas roadhouse, outback etc.) They do not offer anything that makes the experience unique enough to justify charging so much especially for a place in Fitchburg, MA… Otherwise service was ok, drinks were good, steak was slightly undercooked (not a big deal to me) and the wings were good, overall pretty average experience…
