Had lunch today at this Government location. Bean dip was fiya as well as the queso, burrito supreme was delicious, and chips were fresh and crispy. My friends both enjoyed their dishes as well. Another great Mexican place in Mid City.

The food was pretty good except the zucchini was not cooked all the way through.
The service was horrid. We went close to 15 minutes without a check in – twice. When she did check in, she spoke so softly we had to ask her to repeat herself. I’m not old or hard of hearing. When she was around, she acted as though basic request for water refills were annoying.

Sad to say I think I have lost my favorite restaurant! I have been here 3 times in the last 2 weeks and 3rd time in a row I am disappointed. I have always given this place “5”s in the past and recommended it whole heartedly but no more. Always liked it better than the one on Bluebonnet. Loved this place for its food (esp steak fajitas), value, service and atmosphere but food inconsistency has increased and value has greatly decreased. There has always been an issue with consistency but even though taste of same item was inconsistent the food was still good to excellent but sadly no more. The salsa has not tasted good AT ALL the last 3 times I have been there. What is up with that?? The quantity of food has GREATLY decreased – not a great value anymore. The last 3 times I have ordered fajitas in the past 2 weeks the amount of rice, beans, onions and esp bell peppers has greatly reduced! This past time was a deal breaker – I had literally 3 small pieces of bell peppers compared to maybe 3 times that amount in the past! Then today I went for lunch and I got my lunch fajitas and I was very disappointed with the quantity of everything and then they charged me for dinner fajitas. Really!? My last service person admitted there have been alot of changes recently. Clearly not for the best! Going back to Superior Grill… Hope they get their act together! 3 strikes – you are out.

Came in for dinner was greeted by friendly staff at the door. Ordered the combination fajitas to share with my partner. Our server dropped off the fajitas without the tortillas. She later came and dropped off only 3 tortillas. We obviously ran out of tortillas between the two of us. We waited 15 minutes for her to come back to check on the table, just for her to ask if we wanted to go boxes. Overall just an irritating experience. The fajitas themselves in my opinion did not add up to their 26 dollar value (only 3 pieces of chicken, steak, and shrimp). oh and we got charged for the extra tortillas.

I throughly enjoyed my time here while out on a date. Very clean and airy atmosphere. My server was very knowledgeable of the menu and was attentive to my needs while dining. The ladies restroom was clean and modern. I loved how sanitary it was. The food I had was delicious, as well as the presentation on the plate, and the frozen mango margarita was on point. I will definitely go back here to visit again this year.

The cucumber monitor is to die for. I ordered Saul’s favorite as my entree and loved it. A word of warning The beans in the burritos are a paste not whole beans, it might not be for everyone. The steak and eggs were well done and the white corn tortillas tasted like the real thing. Would recommend this establishment if you are in the area.

It was late at night. We were hungry been here before and it was great. So we thought we would try it again. But we were disappointed. I don’t know if it was because we brought it home. Instead of eating it there. But our dinner was really bad. They gave me an old burnt tamale did not put the chili i asked for. Paid $13 for the smallest ceviche I’ve eaten with no juice at all. The beans had a cinnamon flavor to them. The Mexican street corn had a good flavor, but lacked structure. The kernels were so small it wasn’t really a whole side so I had to order another before I left. It all came to $70. Not bad price if the food was better. And old chips must have been left over from the day. Just bad experience. Don’t go at night.

I usually rank this restaurant 5 stars and eat here all the time, referring it to many others, but worst meal ever today (Sunday Feb 23). Ordered fajitas and was charged dinner price but received a smaller than normal lunch sized portion! I would not have cared but meat was tough and didn’t even taste half as good as normal and only 1 pepper and 1 tomato under meat and small amount of onions (see pic below which is full portion with meat moved aside!). Also pepper/onions/ tomato stuck to bottom of pan as very over cooked. Waitress was not good. Took my drink and never brought it back for 10 minutes and when I reminded her she still took another 5 mins. Also she charged me extra for Guacamole when it is supposed to come with fajitas (you have to ask for it though and I did). She got very annoyed when I brought that up so I didn’t even complain about the rest! Never saw a manager there the whole time I was there…I was looking! And I know it was lunch fajitas they served me because it only came with 2 tortillas and dinner portion always comes with 3! Not happy!

Stumbled upon this place on my way to do laundry and it was very impressive. I really like the look of the patio outside as well as the bar and seating inside. It was clean, the food was excellent, and the service was top tier! I had the Steak, Chicken, Shrimp Fajita and it was very enjoyable. This dish had great flavor and it was the perfect size for me! Kudos to La Carreta, Hope to see you soon!

FINAL EDIT
ALTHOUGH THIS FIASCO TOOK SEVERAL MONTHS TO BE COMPLETED, IT IS FINALLY OVER. THE OWNERS STEPPED IN AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, THAT I FELT WAS A LITTLE TOO LONG. THEY SHOULD HAVE STEPPED IN WAY BEFORE NOW. HOWEVER, THIS BEING SAID, I THINK THAT THE FAULT LIES IN THE EMPLOYEES THAT ARE NO LONGER THERE. The owners not only made this right, they went above and beyond. We used our gift card last night, the food and service were excellent. I appreciate the owners making this right. My advice in the future, is please don’t wait so long.
The company finally responded, with no resolution. I was told to contact the former carrier for the gift cards. Which I did, they explained I would have to go to the business in order to rectify this. I already knew this as I’m very familiar with that syestem. So the end result is this
CLIENT PURCHASED A GIFT CARD FOR $50 AND GAVE IT TO ME FOR CHRISTMAS
PREVIOUS MANAGER HAD STATED THAT HE COULD HONOR IT FOR 25
CURRENT MANAGER AND OWNER ARE STATING THEY CAN’T HONOR IT AT ALL
I HAVE TURNED THIS OVER TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!!
SECOND EDIT
AGAIN, BEWARE!!!!! I’VE EMAILED ALL INFORMATION THEY REQUESTED AND NO RESPONSE. THEY ARE RESPONDING TO THE REVIEWS BUT NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH FIXING THE ISSUES. AS OF 9/28/25, THEY STILL HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE GIFT CARD, AND STILL HAVE NOT HONORED IT, NOR RESPONDED.
Edited, I have emailed the owner, per instruction, no reply yet.
This is a warning, if you have a gift card that is on their old system, you will not be able to use it. I had a house cleaning client give me a gift card for Christmas, I am not able to use it because they’ve changed their gift card system. This being said, the previous manager had looked up and researched the amount on the gift card. It was $25. Was just told I cannot use that. They are not honoring their gift cards. Which means they stole $25 from my client who bought this gift card. Beware
