I live in pine brook so it’s the only bar I go to near by and it has a pool table but really wouldn’t be my first pick, that being said, it is such a better Oschucks than the one on main st, that one is kinda grimey, though that one has an Encinitas surfboard and I grew up there so that is neat.
The second time I went there, they didn’t force me to eat. Then I was really confused on if the first person had lied just to grab 2$ for the bar.
The third time they forced me to eat, again, and then was rude when I asked because I don’t understand the back and fourth about eating or not.
The foods pretty good, sushi in a bar will forever freak me out, so I can’t say if it’s good or not.
The pool is great, the beer is great, the people who work there are a hit or miss if they act rude or not but I want to like this bar, I really want to like this bar, but it consistently has an issue. I really try to review places well, this one is just a hard one.
Also a note today apparently they were at “max capacity” on a Tuesday…. It was busy but it sounded like they were just over whelmed and didn’t want more people in there then forced people to go up stairs, then they had the audacity to charge a five dollar cover for a TUESDAY night and it was empty upstairs. A bit lousy to be frank.
Huge bummer this bar doesn’t stay consistent and it’s a hit or miss but it’s the closest thing to my neighborhood and it’s easy to get too walking wise. I really hope management does continually tries to improve and not reply in a rude manner. I read reviews and also write them and I try to be fair. If you go to my profile I’m not a rude person and do give good reviews so it should show that this place may have some slight downsides but i can appreciate a manager or owner really try to step up and actually implement things to make customers happier.
Thank you!
On top of that, food took nearly an hour despite the restaurant being completely empty, and the sushi was nowhere near worth $24–$26 per roll (so minimal in terms of the actual ingredients and you can tell they are purposely cutting corners)— small portions, heavy on filler, and low quality. Other reviews mention the same price gouging, and we experienced it first hand.
Between the long wait, misleading pricing, and subpar food, this is not a restaurant you can trust. Spend your money elsewhere. Stick to being a dive bar.
I’ll start with the positive. They were open on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Now the not so positive.
Food was terrible and one dish was inedible. (Fish & Chips)
What really ends up pushing this place into a very rare “F” grade is the service. The bar tender was not friendly and outright rude to my family. This is a very rare experience since we moved to Utah.
Not sure if the person was just mad at having to work after Thanksgiving or if he just was having a bad bad day.
Either way, I would not recommend ever give this business your attention or money.
We loved the confidential, sunset and playboy were great too but I’d probably choose another one for more variety but so good
