The food was bland, almost tasteless. The sweet and sour pork was dry and most of the batter had fell off while cooking. What was left of it was soggy. Beef fried rice was bland, and so was the soup. The staff were friendly enough, but based on what I tried would not recommend.

SS pork was hard as a rock, egg fu Yung was soggy, sloppy wet covered in a nasty sauce, not gravy, uncooked broccoli. Pork chow mein had very little pork, tough texture and floating in grease. Ended up doubled over in gutt pain and sick as a dog. 2/3 times got horrible meal. Smells good, tastes ok but chef needs culinary instructions. Restaurant impossible should visit this place.

The woman who works there needs a personality transplant but their food is really good and I haven’t been let down yet. The house chow mein is really good as it’s full of shrimp, beef and chicken. The cook is great and I don’t know how he’s able to do it all by himself. I live right down the road from The Happy Garden and there isn’t anything happy about their food which is why I go to the Magic Wok for Chinese food.

Open New Year’s Day. Good size portions. I got a small wonton soup and kung pao chicken. Outrageous amount of celery, about half the whole plate. Ok place, but would definitely not recommend.

I wish I had taken a picture of my food. The portion was substantial. I had the sesame chicken lunch special with chow mein. It was so delicious! Nice and crispy.
The waitress is so nice.

There’s nothing fancy about this place but the food is absolutely amazing very traditional very good no problem whatsoever but there’s no AC in the seating is just bland. But it fits the vibe of the place being just a family-owned traditional Chinese food restaurant. I would say it’s more geared towards take out. The owners are extremely friendly. And even though it was hard I would definitely recommend it.

This reminds me of a small diner in San Francisco, very good egg foo yong. Probably one of the best I’ve had although it is a bit on the greasy side, but still pretty good. And the hot and sour soup was delicious, large portions. this could have easily served two people. Price was a bit high for lunch $$$ but the owners and the chitchat and the visiting made up for it!

This place is awful never in my life have I tried such a grotesque meal. Like the beef and chow mein weren’t edible it tasted like rubber. They somehow got me my food in 3 mins after they put a fresh patch. It was literally my worst Chinese food experience I have ever tried. Do not come here please for you safety this place will make you sick to the core. They also don’t give you what you ordered if you go at 8pm because they’re already closing and cleaning early even if it’s not closing time. PLEASE DON’T EAT HERE, DO NOT SUPPORT THEM. THEY NEED TO BE HUMBLED.

I agree with another about a personality transplant, but totally disagree about food. Went today, it’s been years, and now I know why. Horrible food. Ordered house chow mein. Couldn’t find MEAT, et cetera. “3” prawns…my family of 5 had to fight over those. I could not identify others BITS of other meat. BBQ pork, tuff and inedible. I left it and did not take home. I took Mongolian Beef, but what a terrible meal. Next time your in Foresthill, go to “Dragon Boat.” The best on the planet!…..
