Very delicious!!!! This was our first visit and I am a hard BBQ critic. The brisket and sausage were very delicious. We loved the beans. The potato salad, cucumber salad and dirty rice were the top stars- extremely delicious. You must try these sides. The portion size was plenty. The lady in the red hat was so friendly and awesome. She was the perfect employee to greet a first time customer. I will be a repeat customer.

We saw this restaurant on Eat Like a Local. It looked soooo good that we came a couple of hours later. The barbecue was amazing!!! We ordered pork rib plates with sides and a brisket potato, loaded with meat.

The potato salad was made with pickles and mustard and was very good. The dirty rice was Cajun with spices and meat.

The restaurant is in a strip mall. We found a parking spot right away. It stayed pretty busy the whole time we were there, with a line to the door.

I’d have given more points for atmosphere, because the dining space was very clean and the furnishing were what you’d expect for a barbecue restaurant, but the music was so verrrrry loud that it was difficult to hear the cashier and also to converse at the table.

Im giving 3 stars because Im not here to try and hurt the business. Ive worked in the food industry +20 years.

The food was certainly tasty enough to eat again, HOWEVER the way I got screwed on my order IS NOT. I got a 4 meat plate and a pound of brisket. What I got was a 4 meat plate and 3/4 lb of fat cap and 1/4 of brisket. Pretty frustrating when you pay $30 for a lb of meat, and they pull something like this. I ordered loose cut….never seen 5 solid inches of fat on a slice of brisket, and I managed Catering for a local BBQ joint for 5 years. It was an order off Door Dash, so maybe they thought they were being slick. I would eat this BBQ again, but only Dine-In where they could never get away with such a scam!

The brisket on the 4 meat plate was better, and it tasted nice. The ribs were meaty and tender. The chicken was moist and delicious, and the Jalapeño sausage was great!

The place here was so good. My boyfriend suggested this place and Rays did not let us down. My mother had an amazing time celebrating for her birthday and LOVED the food. 5 stars for me. Also the server was on point and made sure we were well served thanks. We will be back.

Only suggestion sugar free barbecue sauce would be great for those who do not or can not eat sugar.

Classic BBQ spot with many options. I went with the 2 meat plate – Brisket + Beef Sausage, Potato Salad + Baked Beans for the sides… everything was excellent! The Catfish, Shrimp + Hush Puppies also spoke to me. Nice folks, cool 90’s tunes playing… I’ll be back when in Houston.

We were visiting from out of town. The food was great! Loved the Dirty Rice. Service was lacking however. The cashier seemed very uninterested in being at work. Not very welcoming at all. So much, we didn’t want to even go ask for an extra fork. Other than this, the food was good. Overall, when I am in Houston again, I would try them again.

This was NOT worth an almost 25 min wait after I placed my order. This was on level of chain restaurants food. The food was not flavor full. I order 3 meats moist brisket, beef sausage, pork ribs with boudin, potatoe salad, cucumber salad. The only thing that was hot was boudin. This was my first and last time.

The lady who took my order was a true delight and very accommodating. (She was vertically challenged) she walked me through the menu to get the best.

The other ladies had negative attitudes and while I was picking up my food she made a sarcastic comment about the food being my food but she called 2 names out at the same time.

Thanks but NO THANKS.

Ok. I usually wait until I visit a restaurant several times before rating it unless it really sucks. Rays Real Pit BBQ is an exception. It’s not just BBQ. It’s a revelation. We tried the brisket, ribs, jalapeno sausage, potato salad and fried corn. Their meats set the flavor standard that others I’ve tried will need to match. No sauce was needed, though that in itself was better than decent (not peppery, with maybe a bit of maple syrup? I dunno, I didn’t have the fancy palate language that gourmets use). Their potato salad is the first one that rivals my own, something I haven’t made since my mother in law passed, and so I’m inspired to make it again and see. The corn was simply awesome. Maybe I was blown away by the corn because it was my first time tasting something like it, but I’ve lived long enough, earned the inches around my waist the hard way, and know pure comfort when I bite into it.

The line was long when I entered the restaurant 2 minutes after it opened on a rainy and cold January Saturday. The staff were quick and polite. The clientele looked happy to be there.

We will return, for sure. And soon. I’ll just have to up my daily step count.

This black owned establishment is a great place for bar b q. When I tell you this food has been consistent for over 25 years, it never misses. The service can be better however I’ve only came here during MLK day for the past 5 years which is a busy day. I feel the service is not so friendly I am big on customer service and being nice. Staff was not knowledgeable in the mlk discount. This is something they offer every year however cashiers had no idea or even told the customers about it. Like it was a secret or something. In previous years it was posted on the door. Let’s do a little better with overall service here and it starts with the cashiers. Again the food is a 10 this review is regarding service.

I don’t really get the brisket but I think this is MOLD and if i’m wrong please correct me. I’m a pregnant customer this could’ve gotten me sick the smaller cuts don’t have that on it. Other than that the sausage mac and dirty rice was good
