Chennai Cafe offers an authentic South Indian dining experience in Frisco. The food was well-prepared and flavourful, particularly the dosa, sambar, and chutneys, which reflected traditional Chennai-style taste. The biryani was also enjoyable and served in generous portions.
Service was prompt and courteous, and the overall dining experience was pleasant. While the ambience is great south indian style, the quality and authenticity of the food make this restaurant a worthwhile choice for anyone seeking genuine South Indian cuisine. I would recommend Chennai Cafe to those who appreciate traditional flavors and consistent quality.

Went for the weekday dinner buffet, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The live dosas were a bit disappointing — they were quite thick. The desserts lacked flavor, and the biryani was slightly dry. On the brighter side, the buttermilk (neer mor) was really refreshing, the Chicken 65 was tasty, and the curries were decent, though not exceptional.

Chennai Cafe in Frisco delivers an impressive culinary experience, particularly with their Chicken Thokku Biryani, which stands out as a signature dish. The biryani is expertly prepared with aromatic basmati rice and tender, well-marinated chicken simmered in a richly spiced, slow-cooked thokku masala. The balance of spices is commendable—robust without being overpowering—allowing the depth of traditional South Indian flavors to shine through.
What distinguishes this dish is its consistency in texture and taste: the chicken remains succulent, the masala is deeply infused, and the rice is perfectly cooked with distinct grains. The accompanying raita further enhances the dish by providing a refreshing contrast to the bold spice profile.
Overall, Chennai Cafe demonstrates a strong commitment to authenticity and quality, making their Chicken Thokku Biryani a must-try for patrons seeking a genuine and refined South Indian biryani experience in Frisco.

Outstanding Dining Experience at Chennai Café!
We had an exceptional time dining at Chennai Café. The moment we walked in, we could smell the authentic South Indian flavors, and the food did not disappoint. Every dish was rich in taste, fresh, and prepared with so much care.

A very special appreciation to Chef Muthu!
We were fortunate to meet him personally, and he is truly a gem. His passion and dedication to cooking clearly shine through in every plate. He welcomed us warmly, shared a smile, and made us feel like guests at his own home. The taste and presentation of his dishes were beyond our expectations.

From start to finish, our experience was perfect—excellent service, delicious food, and a chef who made the visit memorable.
Chennai Café is definitely a must-try spot, and we will surely be coming back again!
Highly recommended!

Great buffet option in Plano. Friendly staff, a good spread to choose from, reasonably priced for the variety and consistent taste throughout the week. Their daily lunch/dinner buffet menu changes are available on their website which ensures there are no surprises. My go-to place when I’m hungry and can’t decide on a restaurant.

The biryanis were absolutely delicious and full of flavor, and the buffet had a wide variety of options to choose from. I really enjoyed the crispy wadas along with the tasty peanut chutney and the tangy tomato chutney. The food was well-balanced, not overly spicy, and very satisfying. Service was prompt and friendly, and the sweets were fresh and delightful. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend!

Best food I’ve had in a while! Excellent service and a wide variety of authentic South Indian dishes. The crab was my favorite. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and they had an impressive spread, including several types of biryanis, along with salads and soup. Everything was fresh and delicious.
