Is this place really open 24 hours a day? That’s incredible.
Thank you so much for such a lovely time during a heavy snowstorm.
I was worried about the weather, but this place was truly comforting and healing.
I sincerely hope this restaurant continues for a very long time.
Our service got off to a rough start. After being seated, we waited a solid ten minutes before a waiter finally came over. When we did try to order, there was some confusion—our waiter repeatedly asked about an appetizer despite us saying no.
However, once we finally ordered our main courses, the food came out quickly.
The Hits (Must-Try Dishes)
Guajillo Braised Short Rib Hash: Fantastic! This was the star of the meal. It had a wonderful depth of flavor—savory with a hint of smokiness and a hint of heat. The potatoes were cooked perfectly (even the skin-on ones, which I usually avoid), and the short rib itself was perfectly tender. My only minor complaint is that there was too much gristle on the short rib. The eggs on top were over-hard (I wish they’d asked my preference), but still good. I would absolutely order this again.
The Veggie Burger: A complete hit with everyone at the table. It was moist, flavorful, and had a great, homemade texture. The fries served with it were on point. Definitely a must-get.
The Misses
Chicken Fried Steak: This dish was interesting—it had a nice crust, flavorful gravy, good mashed potatoes, and green beans. Unfortunately, the steak itself was really dry and tough. It completely slid out of the crust and was very difficult to cut.
The Patty Melt: This was just decent.
Final Thoughts on Service and Atmosphere
The service was not great overall. We waited a long time after the meal and eventually had to flag down our waiter just to get the bill.
On the bright side, the restaurant was clean, had a kind of old-school vibe, and the prices were not bad for NY.
I would go again just for the Short Rib Hash
This time, I came searching for the disco fries I got last time. I didn’t see them on the menu and had no idea they were only apart of the late night offerings until I asked. I decided to order a side of fries and queso, but Bryan surprised me by bringing over some of the gravy that they had prepped for later that night! It was such a nice surprise, and I really appreciated the gesture. I guess I am making this review as a PSA that the disco fries are only a late night menu item and also to shoutout Bryan for his hospitality!!
