Our waitress Tiffany was super friendly and she made sure we were taken care of. Steak and Prime Rib and Sushi tasted amazing I was so happy that they had prime rib! The Kung Fu Gurl Risling got me tipsy lol it was a busy night, the wait was 30 minutes but this other young girl came and asked if we wanted to order some drinks while waiting which is super thoughtful. We waited where the benches were and the only suggestion I have is to have a bigger heater because it was chilly and the outside heat lamps should of been on.

Last week we had dinner with a friend that is local to the area for a great catch up! Didn’t know what order as a first time to dine at the Chubby Trout. Our server Tiffany was very skilled in her sushi recommendations, our fav! She had their professional chief’s prepare their best choices of their sushi for us enjoy. Outstanding FRESH sushi that delivered 100%, delicious and the best we have ever had! Thank you Tiffany for your amazing service and all your suggestions that we enjoyed, you know your game! Can’t wait for the next time and a big THANK YOU our great friend you know who you are and to all of the staff of the Chubby Trout!! See you soon Tiffany

Absolutely delicious food and excellent service! The Chubby Trout was juicy and full of flavor, the coconut shrimp were incredible and unique, and the Volcano Sushi was a true explosion of taste. Lalo was very kind and attentive, our waitress was amazing, and the cozy atmosphere made it even better. We’ll definitely be back!

We went to this restaurant on a Friday night. The wait was about 40 minutes for a party of two.

The staff was friendly and the food was delicious and served hot. The drink selection was very good too. If you love seafood or find yourself out of town on a Friday night during lent, it is a great option.

I ordered the Mango Salmon. I saw the picture on the menu (or maybe online) but mine didn’t have the mango salsa on top of it. I told the gentleman that delivered our food to the table that I had the mango salmon. He said that mine was the mango salmon. I don’t think I was served mango salmon, but the salmon was prepared to perfection. It was outstanding, mango or not. For sides I had green beans and cole slaw. Both sides were good as well. I highly recommended this place.

My wife and I traveled from Seattle to Elkhart to help her father. We had the pleasure of dinning at Chubby Trout last night and what an experience! Our server was Amanda and she was amazing. She mad us feel special and like we were her only customers despite the restaurant being packed. The Sushi was of the highest quality and the best we have had in many years. My wife and I had our favorite Sushi spot when we started dating in 1990 and the food and Amanda’s service took us back to that time in our lives. Thanks for a great experience!!!

Place appeared quite popular on a Saturday evening. We’d heard good reviews from friends and online the reviews were excellent.

First impression was not great as the taste of the water was quite foul. We then got soda instead. The root beer I recieved was excellent. We started out by trying some sushi with the Chef Gil’s Roll. The roll itself was great. Although, it was sitting on an unexpectedly large layer of wasabi and slathered with what I thought was an excessive amount of sauce. There were also some pieces of the rice which were a tad hard. So overall great flavor but tainted by a few things that may be more of my preference than anything.

We then ate our entrees which included the pan seared scallops ($29) and Thai barramundi ($32). My wife had the scallops and they were good. They had a candied bacon bourbon topping that was a bit too sweet for my liking. The scallops themselves were very soft and delicious and were sat on a bed of roasted cauliflower puree. The scallops were line with asparagus which was roasted and delicious. Overall, good flavor and texture. And while the sweetness was a little much for myself, my wife very much enjoyed it.

The Thai Barramundi was pan seared and placed over cilantro rice and stir fry veggies in a coconut curry broth. My first impression was that the broth tasted like a watered down chicken flavor ramen noodle maruchan with lemon juice in it. I guess I expected the broth to be a bit more hearty instead of watery. Once the rice was mixed with the veggies and eaten all together with the very soft Barramundi it was okay. Not phenomenal by any means. It was just okay.

Dessert was a black berry bread pudding. Again very sweet, so not my cup of tea, but I can say that it was delicious and served with a very large scoop of vanilla ice cream. If I had to describe the flavor, the bread pudding tasted like a cobbler.

Overall, it was an alright dinner. Was it worth the $122 price tag (with a tip)? I wouldn’t think so. But maybe we just picked the wrong items. The service was great and wait times were reasonable for our food. Might come back again to try something different.

3/5 for my experience. 4.5/5 for my wife. So I’ll average a bit to 4.

Very good. Steak was great! The loaded prime wedges were very good! And if you still have room for dessert, the Reese’s peanut butter pie is great!
