Second time to this location after a poor first time. Today 09/27/25 I placed an online order. I ordered a crunch roll, a Philly roll, and a poki bowl. This order was placed at 3:42pm. I went in at 4:05 and waited after they said my order still wasn’t ready. It did not seem busy. The staff working were moving at a snails pace for everything they did. By the time my order was ready it was around 4:25pm. I left with my order expecting it to be correct. It was not I received two rolls I did not order and did not receive my poki bowl. I went inside and told the staff and they corrected the issue. I finally received the right order at 4:27pm. Over 40 minutes to receive two rolls and a poki bowl. Then my wife ate her poki bowl and they forgot the sauce on it. I will not be returning.

Sent my kid to pick up a to go order. The waiter dropped it on the floor and this is what I got- now I get she should have had him remake it but seriously how do you let this walk out the door? No discount no saying sorry I will remake it regardless. They were teenagers for goodness sake. Do better regardless if they were kids or not.

Please do not go here. I am calling the health department tomorrow morning as soon as they open. This is not a safe place to eat. They have fish out unrefrigerated. They are not changing gloves and touching your food after touching unclean surfaces. Their staff is openly talking about being sick and refusing to take antibiotics. They are putting your raw food on a dirty counter. Touching their faces with gloves that touch your food after. Please keep yourself and your family safe.

Do yourself a favor and take the trip across town. (Impossible to be the same owner) I’ve ordered from here probably a dozen times and EVERY SINGLE TIME the order is incorrect. Never once has it tasted the same as the last. This time was just plain disgusting…

The worst, came here with my son. They are so slow. We were in line before other people gave there order and the other people behind us got there order while we were still standing there. Our order was very small when the people behind us had a bigger order and ours still came out last. They forgot our miso soup. The lady was so close to touching our food after her hands had already touch something else. They remove there gloves over the food. Like really. Horrible experience. One of my favorite places turned into a nightmare!

The food is usually very good but it feels like they’re always running out of things. You can wait a long time aswell. The food just takes way too long to make. Me and my friend stood in like for 40 minutes just to find out they were out of multiple things for our rolls. It’s really not a great experience and it feels like everytime you go there you’ll be gambling on if the food is good or not. The service is usually pretty bad. They’re kinda rude and it seems like they try to avoid acknowledging people. There’s a lot more sushi spots that offer a way better experience.

It’s rare I’m on the westside of ABQ but recently my daughter & I were running errands that took us north on Coors. What a pleasant surprise to see SUSHI FREAK WESTSIDE. We are already familiar with the menu since we’ve been to their sister store at the Q. The food was excellent! The Samari Nachos are my favorite. So delicious!

Wow! Its been over 4 years since I have been to sushi freak, and my goodness I applaud them because they managed to stay exactly the same. This is the exact reason why I had refused to give them my business years ago. Rude atmosphere, they did not greet any customers who walk in, employees hardly talk to each other, and when I was waiting on line with two people ahead of me, both employees awkwardly and rudely avoided any type of contact whatsoever… even though the cashier is standing right in front of us! Not even a reassurance about their order, time, or reason for the delay. She seemed to be making herself look busy, it was insanely awkward. I stood their for a while trying to give them a chance but even the customers felt awkward about their demeanor. I couldnt tell if the others were waiting for an order they already placed, but both seemed to be standing there waiting to be helped. And even if they were just waiting for orders to come out, I wasnt addressed at all. It was so awkward how it was extremely quiet, atmosphere heavy, with only 5 of us in the restaurant and they managed to pull of being so rude to all 3 of us customers at the same time. I turned around and left because I was absolutely flabbergasted how immature this restaurant was.

I have been a long-time visitor of Sushi Freak since the one located in Uptown in Albuquerque was opened several years back, and am an avid fan of the brand and especially the sushi in most cases. However, I regrettably must write this review to share honest feedback regarding this one located off of Coors and Montaño, in hopes this improves down the road. After repeated visits, I have consistently found that the food quality, and preparation is not anywhere near the standard which the one in Uptown operates. It saddens me that the rice is usually a harder, older texture, and the rolls often fall apart. Usually, the customer service within the store is okay, though I don’t get the largest impression they have as much heart or care , or standards being upheld with regards to the food they prepare.

Ultimately, I will likely still return and I love the brand, but definitely some room for improvement as this has been a reoccurring trend for myself and my family when we visit this location.
