Had a great dining experience at La Thai Restaurant. The food was full of authentic Thai flavours, beautifully presented, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. We especially enjoyed the balance of spice and aroma in the dishes. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Service was quick without feeling rushed, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys quality Thai food – we’ll be back again!

Had a nice dinner with a friend. The food was good, and we were well taken care of by the restaurant staff. Wassana even greeted us at the entrance and gave great recommendations.
The mixed seafood Tom Yum soup was amazing and really warmed me up, especially in the cold summer weather here in New Zealand. The Pad Thai was delicious—nutty noodles, packed with vegetables, and loaded with mixed seafood. We also ordered extra dumplings (mixed and prawn ginger), which were truly bursting with flavor in every bite.

And yes they do also have an outdoor seating area with sea view. and serves ice cream great after having your hearty meal ✌✌️

I love your food! I’ve been here multiple times. For me, it’s the most authentic Thai food around Banks Peninsula so far. The location is perfect with a beautiful view of the sea. The staff are incredibly kind and make sure you have a perfect experience.

Amazing spot in Akaroa; can vouch as an Asian who has been to Thailand multiple times. The food was always delicious and the lady in charge was super friendly and always made us want to come back!
We also tried Tom yum on our final visit, as we had been multiple times, and can confirm it’s a must!

On Feb 18, we were stranded in Akaroa due to the flooded roads. Internet and cell towers were down so we had no way to withdraw cash from the ATM nor use our credit cards. La Thai was willing to let us pay the next day through a bank transfer once we got enough signal in the next city. Food was great and we’re forever grateful for the kindness showed by this restaurant when no others did.

We found this place on our short trip here and to our surprise we were so pleased we stopped by here. The hostess was wonderful and the food reminded us of authentic Thailand. The prices were economical as well and we ended up doing a takeaway as well for our meal later on.

We live in ChCh. Come over to Akaroa 2 – 3 times a year for a long weekend. Went to La Thai tonight. Best Thai food we’ve had in ages. Fresh, tasty and good sized portions. Service was really good and definitely value for money. We will be back.

I read the reviews before we went out to dinner, and they weren’t wrong. Do not be distracted by the look of the restaurant inside or the ice cream ( which by the way is so good). But this Thai has amazing authentic Thai dishes that taste so good. Fantastic value.
