There are so many good things I could say about this new addition of restaurants to the Silver Valley. These owners have taken on a major project in renovating a beautiful old building that was in pretty bad shape. They’ve done a very fine job so far…the dining room was beautiful with Crystal chandeliers And lovingly refurnished wood floors. If the fireplace insert was a little cheesy, I would still applaud their commitment to giving back this iconic building It’s original beauty. They also have rooms to rent. It’s called a boutique hotel, and, I also applaud their vision in this area.
We went for lunch and that is when it started to fall apart. The waitstaff, although comprised of two sweet and pretty young girls was inefficient and forgot part of my lunch selection. The wait for food was interminable… It took a long time to get our order…I believe we waited about 45 minutes. I ordered the fish and chips, actually not exactly chips, but Tasty roasted potato slices that were seasoned nicely. The fish supposedly cod was uneatable. There was so much breading, all of it uncooked on the inside. I could not eat it…in taking off the breading to get to the fish I found very little actual fish, my friend who had the same order, found the same thing. The coleslaw that was listed as part of the order never appeared but at this point, I didn’t care.
It had been difficult to enter the building. As an 80+ crippled woman who uses a walker, trying to come up the handicap ramp at the back of the building was difficult. I had no more than reached the top with great effort when I found the door to be locked, and then with my heart in my throat went down that steep ramp and was told to enter by the east doorway, which unfortunately had been pretty much shot out by BB’s . It was disconcerting. And then there was a long walk to get to the dining room , we passed the doorway that led to the handicap ramp and found that the hallway leading to the door was full of construction material, and an old mattress. That was bad. There was no good exit for my disability or entrance for that matter. I do not mean for this to be downer review because there is much that is positive at The Spruce… I want this place to succeed because I think it would be a nice addition to our valley, I hope the owners do well and are successful, but I could not let the Quality of the fish, be ignored or unspoken .

Very difficult to rate this restaurant, but definitely between 4 and 5 stars
The service was good, and fun. It seemed to be a family operated place and the youngsters who waited on us and served us were wonderful
But the food was AWESOME. Large portions and tasty!

Lovely restaurant that’s part of Silverton Mountain Manor, so breakfast is included with your stay. The biscuits and gravy were delicious, and the eggs I added on top were cooked perfectly. As a family run place, everyone was very friendly, and the children were especially sweet and kind. Good breakfast selection available; should be something for everyone.

The food is excellent, only to be outdone by the friendly and comfortable service. I’ve only had the opportunity to try their breakfast and lunch menus, but my parents won’t stop raving about the dinners they’ve had there….I honestly cannot wait to go back! Give this place a try, you will NOT be disappointed!
