This was the saddest, thinnest Italian sub I’ve ever seen. Basically one slice of each meat. It also had hardly any flavor… prob bc it was 75% bread, and the bread itself was pretty basic white bread. Don’t waste your money (or carbs) here. Plenty of better places around.

I used to like this place but the workers are more interested in watching their phones than getting orders right. After two tries where they couldn’t make the sandwiches the way they are described I give up. How can you prepare a sandwich and not include everything listed in the ingredients? I only regret giving them a tip. If you can’t give your customers the attention they deserve because they give you money then give them attention because it’s polite.

Great food! A taste of home. Great Italian deli eats and a red sauce that’s killer. Always fresh! After we discovered The Italian Place, it’s in our near-weekly lunch rotation. So glad to have it in town! And the best people work there. We love it!

Adriana has a GREAT place! Her team and the pizza are quality. I’m from eastern PA, so I know great pizza from there up to NYC. Its tough to find quality pizza in the DMV.
I can’t wait to try other items on the menu.
This is worth the try if you care about REAL pizza and want something other than what BIGFOOD/BIGCORP thinks is “pizza”.
And also – a nice selection of vino at good prices!

I am a long time customer of THE ITALIAN PLACE. There are bumps now and then but, that said, they have always worked out each time leaving me more committed to returning- people aside, rewards aside besides they not only make the best personal pies anywhere, they make a unique nutella pizza pie I have on my “must go there” list when are certain duo of kiddos come to town. You can order to go. You can eat inside at the bar height table. You can eat on adorable patio outside of the quaint, intimate, beautiful shop run by a mompreneur, assisted by her always smiling staff. They even have a rewards system. The more you eat there, the more you earn. The music is very Italian and jovial. The decorations make you feel you are on the mediterranean. The neat thing about taking kiddos then eating your order on the outdoor porch? Is the kiddos see the step up as a ‘stage’ on which to grab their pizza and pretende they are singing kareoke style swinging back and forth in cadence. Am I a fan? Absolutely…………..a 20 out of ten recommendation

I bought an eggplant parmigiana from the frozen section.
The worst eggplant I ever tasted I could not eat it. The Eggplant was totally raw and there was a big layer of flour bed like tamale flour. The cooker is definitely not Italian, probably a Latino cooker.
I am so disappointed because the appearance of the place deceive you thinking it is authentic Italian.
Sorry but you have not idea how to make eggplant parmigiana.

Seconding some of the most recent posts regarding the quality of the sandwiches. We got the “Ovi” and meatball sub. The Ovi was mostly bread, had a single layer of meat despite having three different types, also had a strange aftertaste. the meatball sub was just ok. I hate writing bad reviews, but this was pretty disappointing.

Update: The owners immediately responded to my review below and provided a solution to rectify the situation. I appreciate their rapid response. I have changed my rating from 2 to 5 stars to reflect their customer service and much tastier sub. New pics posted!
Old review:
After coming here for years I’m afraid to say wait until the pandemic is over to enjoy a sub here again 🙁
I ordered my usual Giorgio and was shocked and appalled to taste what seemed to be stale bread or a change in bread manufacturer. The bread was dry, powdery, and lacked the authenticity of loaf bread with a crusty top and a spongy chewy middle. It was nothing like what I usually get.
I immediately call the store to find out why this didn’t taste like my usual. I asked if the bread manufacturer had been changed and was told since the pandemic they now had two types of bread. When I asked if they had the other type of bread in store so that I could easily just swap out my sandwich I was told that that was not in stock that day either.
I waited for a solution either in the form of a refund or via store credit but that never happened either. In a pandemic I’m not going to go back and ask for $12 refund as I understand we are all hiring economically, but the customer service seemed to be lacking and I’m afraid to say I can’t come back here and pay $12 for a sandwich on stale, white, powdery bread that I can get at any local bakery. It’s hard to see what I’m talking about in photos but for those who frequent this place you know that this is not the usual.

Not very satisfied from this order. We ordered a Pepperoni Pizza and Meat Lovers Pizza. Both pizzas (especially the Pepperoni Pizza) look like someone tampered with it or it was dropped. The way they’re cut, even the sauce layout is very inconsistent. Very unfortunate to have received these pies.

Went here looking for a good Italian sandwich and that’s what I found. The staff at the front were great. I ordered the Giorgio and it was a well put together sandwich with a good bread to meat ratio. I appreciate a harder roll for my sandwiches and the roll here was a little on the softer side bit still good and the roll held up to the sandwich. I will definitely come back.
