The food was exceptional! We have the 1/2 tenderloin and specail steak sandwich. The tenderloin is thicker than it used to be, but just as delicious. I asked the owner if the steak sandwich was just a thin breakfast ribeye like most are, before I ordered. She said no they have them cut weekly. In my opinion they are twice as thick as off the truck breakfast ribeyes, and much better flavor. A full sized tenderloin was ordered to go for supper. We were very pleased with our service and food. We sat next to the kitchen and it looked very clean and orderly. We are going back this weekend!

Small hunting town bar and grill. The Atmosphere has that local hunting bar vibe with a great patio and view of the local bird wetlands. Cold drinks and great grub, daily specials and the BEST BURGER hands down. All this and your can’t beat the prices, so add on a piece of homemade pie for dessert. The owner Adrian will make you feel at home no matter what town you are from. It is a don’t miss stop along your scenic drive through the villages of Van Buren.

One of the best tenderloins I have ever eaten. Friendly service and a great small town bar. It’s out of the way but that is where you always seem to find the best people and food. Will definitely road trip back to eat here again or just have a drink.

It’s been over a year since I was here until this past Saturday night when I was 4wheelering up in the area.
The food was amazing! I had the Saturday night special, which was a steak sandwich and it was a 10 out of 10. The whole place is a 10 out of 10, I’d definitely recommend if you’re coming from out of area.

Went on a road trip to Dutchman store. Checked out the iowa gallivant best tenderloin in all 99 counties list. AJs was listed as best in this county. It was the most perfect place for dinner before the trip home. Everything was excellent. Tenderloin, corn nuggets, breaded colliflour, the wife’s sandwich, even the fries were fire. Very friendly staff. The wife and I both agreed that we would make the trip again just for AJs alone with no other reason. Too bad I can’t give it more stars. Thank you for the perfect cherry on top of our day.

This place is a great, it’s off the beaten path, but holy smokes worth the detour.. Middle of the week, middle of the day, busy and still great service. Food was plentiful as you can see, fabulous tasting and reasonably priced. I will make that drive again

A. J.’s has been a staple for us for years! The Jumbo Tenderloin is one of the largest breaded pork tenderloins you’ll find. It can easily feed two to three people. But it’s their prices that will floor you. The sandwiches are definitely a meal. They have a huge selection of beer, and their lemonade is one of my favorites. The French Dip is good, and the Bucky Burger is grilled onions and American cheese with a perfectly cooked beef pattie on a bun. They have half a breaded pork tenderloin if you’re not ready for the jumbo. They have a cover deck for outdoor seating.
