Saw numerous reviews on this restaurant, so after the gym wife and I headed there when they opened up, got sat right down right away. Our Server Annie was very friendly and very helpful with the menu.
Love the decor ,very modern, a lot of lighting aesthetics. soft music playing over speakers
We ordered a couple appetizers which came out hot, also been getting into sushi lately. So we ordered a roll to share as an appetiter as well, very fresh. Very good, they have a large variety of sushi rolls, raw and cooked.
I ordered the black Fried Rice with chicken supposed to be more healthy than regular Fried Rice for you. It was very very good!
My wife got the spicy seafood soup, which was very good.I tried a little bit of that as well.
I can see why all the reviews were really good. Its definitely one of my top 3 now!!

I tried this place for the first time on my bday with a friend and honestly I will never return. Her and I hang out very infrequently so we normally hang out and chat for a while but order food, appetizers, and drinks continuously. About an hour and a half into us being there we noticed the bus boy, hostess, and owner kept coming by our table often to remove things.

The waiter was incredibly kind and brought out a ice cream bday treat for us, but we weren’t even halfway through eating it when the owner just came by and took it (we had sat our spoons down to drink and chat). A few minutes later someone comes by and just starts grabbing our waters which we were still drinking before even asking if we were done. About 10 minutes later the hostess comes over and asks us how much longer we will be even though we still had half our rather large drinks left. We explained we were still drinking (clearly) and she informed us we had been there for over the 1.5 hour table time limit and there were people waiting (we did not see a single person waiting). We sat for another few minutes and rushed to drink the rest of our drinks as we were both extremely uncomfortable.

Having worked in and managed a restaurant I could never imagine treating customers that way. An hour and a half is not a long time for a table to be sitting especially while celebrating something. If we had only ordered appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks then sure I could understand wanting to free up the table but we ordered 2 drinks each, an appetizer, 3 rolls and an entree, plus had dessert. If you would like an experience where you are rushed out and made to feel uncomfortable during a special occasion this would be the place. I am disappointed as my friend highly recommended this place and had been going for years but now neither of us will return again.

Arashi Yama Sushi & Hibachi is such a gem!! the sashimi was super fresh and flavorful, the hibachi was perfectly seasoned with generous portions, and even the rice was fluffy and delicious. The presentation was beautiful, the service was friendly and attentive, and the whole vibe made for a really enjoyable meal. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for both sushi lovers and hibachi fans!

The miso soup is quite salty, but the coconut soup was amazing! And the sushi boat we shared was very fresh!

We have been to this place a couple times now and will be going back! The food and service is amazing. While the price may be a bit higher here than other places, it is well worth every penny. This is the best sushi I have tried here! My favorite is the lobster bomb roll.
The most recent time we went was for Valentine’s Day and ordered quite a bit of food that came with the dinner package. The rolls in the photos below are from the Valentines special dinner, but are on the normal menus as well.
The lobster bomb roll is the middle roll in the photo with 3 sushi rolls. The others were amazing, but the lobster bomb roll beat everything we ordered!
I definitely recommend this place if you are looking to go out and dress up for a nicer dinner or date. We will be back!
The rolls in the photos are:
Lobster bomb Roll
Out of control Roll
Volcano Roll
Sex in the moon Roll
Sweet Heart roll

The food was AMAZING. The server was AMAZING so kind and attentive. I loved that they left a bottle of water at the table and had stainless cups with no ice. I actually LOVE that touch. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5, is because 1. The music was offputting. It was loud and modern American pop music which is not the vibe I would personally pick for sushi dinner. 2. The pricing was a little all over the place. Like some things I would expect to be inexpensive, weren’t and then there were sushi rolls priced over $17 for one roll. It was good and all. And the kids menu items were really high priced in my personal opinion.

Loved this place! It’s definitely a cut above. Very fresh & generous portions. Great service — and I don’t say that lightly. My only complaint is that, sitting at the bar, I kept smelling bleach all night long…not sure why. Glass disinfectant? Cleaning spray? Dish washing machine? Either way, it competed with my fabulous experience….

Didn’t expect to find such high quality food in a college town! Blue fin o-toro, uni, Fargo salmon, truffle…. Menu is innovative with a wide range of flavors. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Ambience is posh and inviting. Chu chu lobster, uni bomb, sweet 16 and crispy bok choy are some of my favorites. Loved this restaurant so much that after Thursday’s dinner, we returned on Saturday for lunch. If you are in Gainesville and you love Japanese food, Arashi Yama is place not to be missed!
