We visited this Old School Pizza in Malta on Friday, December 19th, 2025. This was our third visit, the first time being in December 2024 after first hearing about it in May 2024 and trying to find time to go and the second time in July 2025. We loved our experience, the atmosphere is awesome there are so many little decorations all over the walls. The pizza was great too. Between our two visits, it did change where you place your order upfront now and bring your plates up when you’re done, so there is that to note (not a bad thing though!) Also there were retro video games in the back, the place is awesome. Will definitely be back for our annual trip every 6 months! (Written 12-29-25)

This was super fun. We decided to come out here on a cold night in December, and it was worth it! Super cool atmosphere, really fun old arcade, and delicious food. Their garlic knots are amazing, and their mozzarella sticks are super crispy. Definitely something people should check out!

We heard about this place on TikTok and were in the area for apple picking. We didn’t know what to expect, being from the south side of Chicago we are a little snobby about pizza and this place absolutely was spot on! We got sausage and bacon well done and it was perfect! Amazing retro video games and memorabilia. I’m bringing my family back for another road trip dinner.

A rare 5 stars across the board from me. The atmosphere alone is worth coming. So much 80’s & 90’s nostalgia. From toy collections , and movie posters to life statues. To much to see in one trip. After eating I continued to look around. Classic movies playing on the TV’s, retro music. Even some classic arcades and pinball machines.. Remember those red plastic cups from Pizza Hut ? They have them here ! The pizza was so good, it reminded me of old school pizza hut, but old school when it was delicious! Definitely going to come back. Definitely recommend. How much ? Well I drove an hour and half to come here for lunch and I’m so glad I did. When you see Mighty Mouse riding an elephant, you know your at the right place

I had only heard about old school pizza in Malta, Illinois and it sounded like just a rumor. But it’s real! And it’s AMAZING. When you walk in you feel like you’ve been teleported into a place that was made for kids of the 80s and 90s, it’s a nostalgic Dreamland.
As if the decor was not magical enough, the pizza is absolutely fantastic! The crust is crispy, the cheese and toppings plentiful, and the sauce robust. They have a fountain machine so you can fill your drinks yourself and not have to wait, I love that! The appetizer selection is incredible as well.
I can’t wait to come back again! It’s worth the drive from Rockford or even the suburbs!

This place is amazing and worth a drive to check out. There are so many things to see, your eyes won’t know where to look next. I also suggest switching sides of the table with your friends/family at some point so you can check out what’s displayed behind you, too.
I had the Eastwood pizza, and it was amazing. I also had some of the garlic knots, they may be worth the drive alone! I will be back to try many of the other pizzas, I’m sure they are great too.
Enjoyed a game of pinball and playing the skill crane afterwards,

When it comes to hidden gems, this place tops the list. What the heck is in Malta? I’ll tell you, some of the best pizza in the entire Midwest. I read about this place and went with my wife and daughter on a Saturday to check it out – mostly for the pizza – but was completely taken aback by the entire place. To start, they have a collection of 80’s to 90’s era memorabilia that will rival any collection. They have a life size Archie and Edith statue (with Archie in his chair of course), a game room lined with old boom boxes, vintage arcade games, old Harley’s, even a statue of Benny Hill. The atmosphere is second to none. But, all that doesn’t mean anything if the pizza can’t stand on it’s own. It not only stands on it’s own, it stands head and shoulders above 95% of the best pizza around the Chicagoland area. And yes, I’ve been to them all – from the way overrated Pequod’s to the big guys like Lou Malnati’s and the Mom and Pop’s like the now defunct Father and Son. You need to make the trip if you are anywhere remotely close to Malta (i.e. within 150 miles). Spend the day traversing Illinois farmlands and grab lunch/dinner here. I sincerely hope this place is flooded with business and they are around for the long haul. Great pizza in a second to none atmosphere. This place is a must try.
And…get the monster fries as an appetizer. You won’t be disappointed.
