We dined here as a couple and ordered the Chile Relleno plate and a bean burrito, both topped with green chile. While we requested it to be medium, the heat level across the dishes was very mild—disappointingly so for anyone accustomed to New Mexico chile.
The chile relleno was egg-based, almost omelette-like, with the chile folded inside. The actual chile was on the smaller side, but the flavors overall were very good.
The bean burrito was the clear standout of the meal. The beans were incredibly flavorful and perfectly textured—not too dry and not too runny—and the tortilla paired beautifully with them. The green chile added depth, even if it didn’t bring much heat.
Chips and salsa were included. The chips were fine but nothing special and could have used a bit more salt. The salsa, however, was excellent—bright, well-balanced, and highly drinkable—though again extremely mild. I could easily have gone through a full 16 ounces with my meal 🙂
Service was good but not particularly attentive. Our drinks were not refilled, and dirty dishes were not cleared during the meal. One additional thing worth noting is the checkout process: the waitress did not cash us out at the table. We placed our card and receipt at the edge of the table, ready to pay, but it went unnoticed. Eventually, we realized there is a QR code on the receipt that requires the customer to scan, enter their information, and complete payment themselves. While this isn’t a major issue, it did add a few extra minutes that I personally would have preferred to avoid.
The total for the chile relleno plate, bean burrito, and green chile came to around $20, which felt like solid value for the quality and portion sizes.
Overall ratings:
• Flavors: 5/5
• Ambiance: 4/5
• Service: 3/5
Final take: Solid food, good value for the money, and a restaurant I would definitely return to—just don’t expect much heat in the chile unless you ask for extra hot.

It was fine. The place was clean, but despite there only being 3 tables, the waitress was brusk and unfriendly until checkout. The coffee was bad, and the enchiladas tasted odd. Even the beans didn’t taste right

We were visiting the riverbend hot springs in truth or consequences and decided to check out a local Mexican restaurant. It’s a friendly family owned place. Generous portions. I had the chuleta and my partner had the fried shrimp tacos. Lots of locals / interesting observation – all the locals sat along the wall while out of town visitors appear to sit in the middle – lol.
We enjoyed our meal. The service was attentive and prompt. Nice local place to check out when you are visiting this town

Delicious food and you can taste that the chile is homemade; the red is personally my favorite! We got the chimichanga (shredded beef), the bean and cheese burrito, and red and green cheese enchiladas. All worth trying, and like I said, the red is delicious!

Service was friendly. Food was okay.
Red chili sauce was smoky but bland otherwise. Green chili sauce was good. Salsa was a bit spicy but not much flavor. Quesadilla was pretty good. Burrito was bland.

GO HERE to eat Great Mexican food!! When we come this way on vacation, we always come here!!! Through the years, the food is consistently good!!!!! The Chimichanga is my favorite. I always get it with ground beef. But, all the selections we have had are good, BUT, the best part is the Green Sauce!!! Only 2 complaints I have, is that even they are a free appetizer, I wish they didn’t put cilantro in the sauce (wish they’d give you a choice, make some without & some with, for people that like it) & the chips aren’t too good. And, please put a little more green sauce on my meals —- YUMMY!!!!

I’ve dined here for breakfast twice and I ordered the Huevos a la mexicana both times and enjoyed the way it came out most definately, my father said that the chorizo was good also. There’s only so many options to eat out at in this town, I recommend El Faro. Service was great too. A fair amount of parking and nice location. Nice atmosphere, nice lighting.
