I was somewhat disappointed by the changes to this restaurant, when it opened up after the pandemic. In particular, it seemed to have fallen behind the times. For example, they had a large list of beers but no non-alcoholic beers. Just about every other bar and restaurant in Lawrence now has non-alcoholic beer. Even Germany, often viewed to be the beer capital of the world, now is expanding its offerings of non-alcoholic beers.
I was very happy to find today that they now have two NA beers, including the excellent NA Boulevard Spacecamper. In short, Morningstar’s is back!

Best pizza in Lawrence. I’ve been living here for a few years now and have had the chance to try all the local spots… Morningstar is always the most consistent and well made. They never skimp on the toppings and service is top notch. It’s on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. I wish they had a medium size and more apps, but overall the pizza is top notch!

Growing up on the East Coast and spending a couple of years in the Northeast, I was fortunate to have access to some truly great pizza. This place is on par; it’s good eats. I haven’t found anything as close in the 4 years that I’ve lived in Kansas.

I got 3 slices, one plain, one pepperoni, and one Sicilian all well done. The dough and the sauce were on the sweeter side, the regular slices were a tad oily but had a great flavor and a decent crisp. The star of the show was the Sicilian slice, the slice had a strong crisp with a balanced ratio of cheese sauce and dough. The prices were very good for the size of the slices and the staff were extremely nice! It’s hard to come by real NY pizza in Kansas let alone Lawrence and id say this delivered!

The food is good. The pizzas are not “exactly” like a NY Pizza… they lack the oowie-gooie, cheesey goodness of a NY Pizza. But we’re in KS, so it’s pretty good.

Absolutely fantastic pizza, and the meatball sub was perfect. Service was great, and the staff was friendly and prompt. Only problem here was the location is a bit small, and the popularity of the place made it a bit crowded. I’d suggest taking the items to go if you’re in the area.
*Local Tip* The parking lot is pretty crowded due to several restaurants sharing the same lot. Park North and East towards the McDonald’s and avoid risking life and limb in a game of Frogger by walking past the other buildings.

It is really difficult to find a pizzeria that makes it stand out among the rest. Matt is super kind and respectful and exemplifies quality customer service. If you want pizza, chicken, etc come see Matt and get your fill!

One of the only by the slice places in town, very good, decently priced. Wouldn’t call it NY quality or anything, but it’s better than Pizza shuttle, any of the chains, and a couple of the other spots in town. Wish it was open every day.

The manager is eagle eyed and even if the waiter happens to be busy they’re going to take good care of you. We experienced this yesterday when we looked over to the counter and as fast as we could blink he was on his way over.
The pizza is fantastic and my wife loved the manicotti with sauce and a meatball. Price was what you would expect but not more.
We walked out fat and happy. Shared our experience with friends and will definitely be back.
A lot of credit goes to the manager who clearly was doing a good job of running the show, floating from the back to the front and consulting with his team while taking care of the customers.
It’s always fun to see good captains out there.
