1. They have no liquor license. No sake.. no Orion… I ordered tea and it come in a bottle. I ordered the sashimi to start and it came out was were a few pieces of fish spread on what looked like lettuce from a bag of salad you might buy at Walmart. Tries the Miso soup and it was the lifesaver for me here. Wanting to give them a second chance, I ordered the Superman roll. Not bad.
In total.. lack of alcohol was a minus.. Miso soup. Huge plus. Sashimi… minus. Roll small plus
All jokes aside my daughter said I wonder if they used the meat of the shrimp in my sushi and so she opened the box and there were 5 pieces of shrimp meat smh!!! Cheap skates!!!!
The first red flag was being given low sodium generic HyVee soy sauce. I don’t mind the brand, but low sodium is where I take issue, and when I asked for regular it just seemed like a huge drag for him to get me some (packets).
I got sashimi which was my first mistake, $7 for a disappointing portion size. I mentioned it to the waiter, which was my next mistake, instead of being understanding he argued with me about it. I said its okay, I dont need anything changed or taken off just that maybe they should consider it. I should also mention it was served on a bed of lettuce with a lemon wedge, something very unusual for Sashimi, i assume was to make it look like more than it was.
He brought me a couple extra pieces (a worse cut of the fish) and although i appreciated the gesture, it didn’t seem that he was doing it to be nice, just to prove his point that “bigger pieces just means it is sliced thinner, and its the same volume.” That was not in question to begin with, it was the overall portion that was small.
There were dozens of ways he could have handled this better, and pretty much all of it came down to attitude. It just felt disrespectful and spiteful. I love sushi so much, the whole fiasco ruined my meal. I regret saying anything, and I don’t want to see that waiter again so I just won’t be back.
