Was here visiting salem for 1 day saw this place close by salem for pickup. Lobster roll was good. Friend ordered mac and cheese lobster that was ok but the order was missing the clam chowder/tater tots was very upset after finding out the soup was missing after going back to our hotel.

Everything about this place was incredible. A lobster roll, cup of soup, bag of chips, can of soda for $32 is an insane deal. You could tell it was fresh, we got a lobster bisque and a chowder, and both were out of this world. They also gave us tips on traveling in and out of Salem, helped navigate parking, and were super friendly.

I had a lobster roll here last year and it was great. Today I ordered the hat trick which features claims, scallops, and shrimp. All of it was good, the scallops and clams are very large. The cocktail sauce was really good and had a strong horseradish flavor. Not a fan of tartar sauce but theirs is really good and prominently features pickles. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable about the menu, and service was pretty quick. It’s located near some train tracks and parking is tough though. I recommend grabbing your order to go and then heading to the beach.
This plate pictured here was $24 and left me completely stuffed.

Never been. Driven by many times. Ordered the Crab Cake Combo w/ tots. I was floored when I got in my vehicle and opened the bag. Deep Fried Crab Cakes? And they smelled and tasted overcooked. My opinion, but anyone that makes a decent Crab Cake does not deep fry it, especially not like this. The burnt smell is still in my truck, hours later. I won’t be going back.

Best seafood ever! I’m from Detroit and was dying for a New England lobster roll last night. I got there late, but the owner, Nicki, stayed open to service me. With the lobster bisque, it was the best ever.
In fact, it was sooooo good, I returned today and got 4 to go with a seafood salad. We had great conversation, she gave me a sampler of the chowder, then packed my meal in separates and on ice so that I can assemble them when I get home tonight.
Thank you, Nicki! I will see you soon, but will order online sooner.

We’re staying in Beverly (over from the UK) for just a week and we’ve already been this lovely family-run business twice. The food is freshly cooked, generous portions, super friendly staff and great prices. The stand-out stars were the scallop box and the crab sandwich. We might even for third time before we leave!

For two years I’ve promised myself this meal! I’m easily distracted, lol, but today, I was in a mission! I will no longer be distracted as easily again. The fish chowder is chunky with tons of fish, delicious and my scollop roll was everything I was hoping for. Thank you Joes on a roll for a great meal with enough for a small supper. Staff was great and I love the bench outside and the huge lobster on top. .

First time visit last Saturday 2 hour drive from Rhode Island. I Ordered the crab roll which was dry and tasted like it was previously frozen not good at all. I also ordered New England clam chowder it was thick, creamy with plenty clams and potatoes but, had no flavor. The scallop and shrimp box was delish but, the tatar sauce was awful. Very disappointed after spending about $40 and a 2hr drive.

In a search for “best lobster roll in Beverly,” Joe’s On A Roll came up in the Google search results. I checked out the reviews and decided to give it a shot. This is kind of an out-of-the-way location that used to be a food truck before it became a permanent building. There are about four parking spaces in front of the building and no seating indoors. There is a bench out front that would allow for a place to sit and eat, however, I opted just eat my lunch in my car. This is the kind of place that when you see it, you know it’s kind of like a gem for the locals and the neighborhood. There was a walk up window with menus posted beside it and I placed my order for a hot buttered lobster roll combo. In about four minutes, my order was ready and the service was friendly and fast. They take cash as well as credit/debit at Joe’s. The chips offered were either a bag of Cape Cod plain or Salt and Vinegar and there were various cans of soda, tea and bottles of water available. I opted for the Salt and Vinegar chips and an Arnold Palmer tea. All of that was just as expected, but the absolute hit was the lobster roll. This is sometimes called a Connecticut style lobster roll and it was definitely delicious. The lobster was plentiful, buttery and so tender. It just melted in my mouth and was just perfect. The bun was toasted just right and I’d guess this roll had about 4 ounces of lobster, which was not bad for $20. They do offer the lobster roll in the traditional cold mayo variety, but I was just in the mood for something different and I would absolutely order this again. This lobster roll was the perfect size for a lunch portion and I will definitely be back the next time I travel to Beverly.
