The Hive is alive! Great place to study or meet a friend. Most of the seating is in the back. The service was great, especially for a busy hour. And my favorite part was that they made a legit iced maple latte – the best I’ve had in NC. Their maple tasted like a northeast maple, and beat out the competition in the area.

I met a friend at the Hive yesterday and we were excited to try a local coffee spot. The barista greeted me and I asked if they had any darker roast options. He said both the espresso and drip coffee options were medium. I asked if they could do dark roast pour overs, he said they don’t. My friend opted for a chai latte which he said was lacking flavor and average. I got a Colombian roast coffee. The cost for my small drip coffee was $3.97. Sadly it tasted like watered down Folgers with a splash of blueberry. I took 2 sips of the coffee and threw it away.
The atmosphere on Main Street is awesome but the hive has some strange seating including diner style tables and chairs in the back. I mentioned to the barista that I didn’t like the coffee I received, he told me to try their decaf espresso? I asked for a cup of water. I wanted to rinse the taste out of my mouth. He said they only had bottled water. Luckily it was only $1. I ordered a special coffee for a buddy working nearby to go, the vanilla skylark. The small was $6.97. My friend said it too tasted watered down , and chalky. It was supposed to come with whipped cream… they were out.
In synopsis, if you like darker roast , or strong, or affordable coffee, I’d avoid the hive or like me you might get stung. I’d never let a customer leave without being thrilled with their purchase but that’s just me.

My husband and I went to The Hive for the first time today. It’s a great spot to have coffee and just chill. If you like Gilmore Girls it has that small town coffee shop vibe. The barista was also friendly and definitely knew how to make all items on the menu. I had the snickerdoodle latte with cold foam and my husband had a hot chocolate which he recommends 100%! The whole experience was great! Definitely need to go!

Sleek and Spacious, a back area that is reached only by traveling through a funnel. The coffee is flavorful and sweet. The people are nice. The music is noticeable but not overbearingly loud. The decorations point towards an architectural/ engineer and rustic style mind who’s passionate about building while staying caffeinated!

I always have a great experience here!
For me the hive is a quite and low-key spot to come and work, when I need to get out the house.
The coffee is great and the pastry options are good too if you need a quick bite.
