Food was awesome! They let us eat outside with our dog and were very nice. 10/10 recommend. If ordering take out keep in mind hot food in closed containers can make food soggy. Try to eat it right away! La agua de Jamaica was on point and the lemonade was very satisfying.

We are visiting from Texas for a month, and us Texans love our Mexican food and can be quiet picky with our tacos. After being here in Seaside for almost 3 weeks, I was getting the hankering for tacos as we eat Mexican food at least once a week if not more back home. But this night we just left the Columbus Day festival late and didn’t get a pizza so we thought well let’s walk around and get a slice. We found this little gem a on our walk and let’s just say it was a mutual automatic decision to divert previous pizza mission and go in. We ordered the carne asada tacos, chicken tacos and the CAMARONES ALA MEXICANA. The rice and beans were good and not dry and their salsa is really good and fresh. The tacos had just the right garnish and meat and flavor. Husband said the shrimp dish was awesome and well flavored. Next time I’ll try the birria tacos or burrito and maybe some CHILAQUILES for breakfast. Atmosphere was clean and quiet as we came in an hour before they closed so that’s to be expected.

I have been coming to Seaside in the summer my entire life. My family orders from other Mexican “inspired” restaurants in the area and for years I have been disappointed with their food. Monte’s is a blessing. The moment I stepped foot inside to pick up my food I could tell this place was authentic. The food followed through. My tinga tostadas were one of my favorite meals I have eaten in months. They were absolutely up to the highest quality bar I have for comparison. The quesadillas were also outstanding. The veggie was delicious, though my uncle complained that the shrimp one did not have enough shrimp in it. The tacos all had good tortillas. The carnitas tasted good, it had a full flavor to it. The chicken in the tacos was dry, but the provided sauces were good. You can tell the chips are made in-house. They were very good. The guac was smoother than I expected. My family wanted empanadas. They were fine, but I didn’t expect anything special on that front from a Mexican place. On the whole this was not the best Mexican food I have ever eaten, but it so far surpasses its competition and does certain things such as the tostadas, quesadillas, and chips well enough that I am giving it 5 stars. I am ashamed it took me this long to discover Monte’s in Seaside.

Always on the hunt for authentic tacos and this place is definitely it!!! So delicious, you won’t regret it. I would have gone there every day of my vacation, but sadly we found it on our last night there. Next time, will be back for sure!

The food was very good!
Pros: On Street Parking;free this time of year, BYOB, clean appearance, Nice decor!, clean bathroom.
Server was very efficient, listened and was friendly.
Food:
Salsas Roja y Verde were good! Could be a bit more spicy ( pica ).
Salsa Chipotle was very good, smokey / spicy.
Burrito de pollo had much flavor!
Torta de Tinga Pollo Chipotle was very good!
Guacamole was fresh and very tasty!!!
Reasonable prices!
Cons:
Dining area has close seating if sitting in booth tables.
A little less salt in the Burrito would be better.
I would recommend this place to friends and family!!!
Definitely try the Guacamole.

Update: I came back again and this time I got huevos rancheros, and they were INCREDIBLE!!!!! I am definitely coming back to Montes Cafe, and I will be visiting their new location on the boardwalk as well. So far I’ve only had their breakfast food, but the tacos and burritos look amazing too. Super excited to try them when I have a chance. I’ll definitely be returning here!

A great find! My family will definitely return. Montes Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Seaside. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. This was our first time here but certainly not our last. If you are in or around Seaside this place is the place to go.

I am not sure if this is authentic Mexican food but it doesn’t even matter because everything is delicious! You can tell they use fresh ingredients and prepare everything the day of. The service is great, fast and friendly. I’ve never had a bad experience here and I have been here multiple times.

My friends and I had gone to a place down the street initially and the first places had a very scary mean vibe so we went walking further down the street to find something when we came across this place. In our party one person had a gluten allergy and one had a shellfish and nut allergy. The staff here accommodated all of us perfectly and with a legitimately friendly atmosphere. And then the food came out and oh my dear lord it was sooooooo good!!!!!! I got the birria burrito, highly recommend to anyone who likes food or sunshine or rainbows or having a good time. Also I got a large lemonade which came in a little pitcher and was so delicious that like three more people immediately ordered the same thing. Each time a new drink came over we all gave a little cheer and it felt like the waiter was just as excited as we were which was the best feeling in the world. If I could give this place ten stars I would. I love you guys so much <3
