We made a reservation about three weeks ago for a party of 5. I heard great things and wanted to try out Bandol and it just so happened to fall during Chicago restaurant week. Unfortunately, I was very let down.

I was surprised to be seated at a high top in the bar area as a reservation. We had a latecomer so we started with drinks which I will say are the reason I gave two stars – kudos to the bartender.

We ordered from the prix fixe menu and everything went downhill from there. Our salads came out before our starters. The crab cakes were just okay and escargot wasn’t bad, but also not great – my friend’s crab cakes were taken before she was finished with them as she went to the restroom. Once the table was cleared there was a very long gap between the first two courses and the main. All but one got steak and we all regretted not getting the poulet (other reason for redeeming two star because it was a very good plate). The pictures show what came out for medium rare and medium well steak frites… at this point we had been sitting for 1.5 hours and didn’t want to send to the back to elongate the stay. The dessert was a cold crème brûlée with a pretty soft top. Overall, will not be coming back and it’s a shame because I do like French food.

Solid lunch experience for restaurant week. Great service, and good food. We tried the eagargot and the French onion soup. The soup was a bit difficult to eat because the cheese was thick and very gooey. But delicious. French dip was on point and a large serving with a side of crispy tasty fries. For dessert we had creme brulee. Quite a thin layer of custard with a slight lemon flavor and also a thin crust. This was about favorite dessert. Server was good, prompt with water, and checking in. Restrooms are quite a ways away, down an elevator and into the hotel. Seems like a business lunch/dinner place to take clients.

We visited Bandol for lunch while in town for work. It was reasonably busy on a weekday at noon but we were able to sit immediately without a reservation.

The waiter was prompt and friendly and special requests were adhered to.

I had the burger and it was great! Although I’d requested it to be cooked thoroughly/no pink inside, it was nonetheless very juicy. Basically greasy but in a good way. Fries also very good – nice and crispy.

Definitely recommend!

I was staying at the Hyatt and this is where globalist members can use their breakfast credit. The space is nice and the servers were friendly and kept busy but they were an unorganized mess. The first server came by to take our drink order. The second person that came by asked us if we had a server. We said yes but it had been a while since we’d seen him so we placed our order with her. We had to flag someone down to ask for the check and then again to ask for a pen to be able to charge the bill to the room.

There were 2 of us and we both ordered the same thing, the breakfast sandwich. It took about 30 min from when we were seated until we got our food and the place was maybe half full. The portion size was generous and the potatoes were delicious!!! I enjoyed my sandwich but after a few bites my boyfriend’s bun started falling apart and got messier to finish eating when compared to mine. We noticed that mine was very nicely toasted while his didn’t have much of a toast on it.

We’re glad our credit covered the whole meal but even with it being free, I wouldn’t come back if I wanted a quick breakfast option.

Great lunch spot with a lively professional crowd. The French fries were outstanding, though the burger patty was a bit under-seasoned. Rooftop menu starts at 3 PM, which I’ll be back to try. A solid choice for coffee, French onion soup, lunch, or the rooftop bar.

I chose Bandol for my first culinary experience in Chicago. The city’s reputation for fine dining did not disappoint at all. The food was excellent, I ordered a Filet Mignon with grilled asparagus and potatoes along a glass or Pinot Noir from Oregon and a baguette, which I basically couldn’t stop eating. The meal was cooked to perfection and was easily one of the most flavorful Fillet Mignons I’ve ever had.

Nice chill lighting and modern beats were a welcome combination, but on the downside lots of very loud people made it seem more like a bar than a higher end restaurant.

Also was a tad disappointed with service. I had to wait a while to be seated and then more so just to get my order. This would be completely fine when the place is full but not when it’s 80% empty.

The server was kind and friendly, provided good recommendations but unlike other similar restaurants, no one checked if I needed anything else, expect one time only.

It was my first time coming here with some friends for restaurant week! The service was amazing, from when we were greeted at the entrance, to the gentleman taking our plates after each course and refilling our waters, and Cesar was our server. We were so pleased with his hospitality, attention, and patience. He really made the experience so much more enjoyable and memorable. The food was also very tasty! Would definitely back come again to try other menu items.

I really wanted to love Bandol. With their remarkable service and good atmosphere, but, the cheese plate left a bad taste in my mouth. Let’s start with the good: The oysters were phenomenal! The sliders were absolutely delectable. The drinks, tasty and flowing. Their desserts were an absolute hit too!
I just can’t get past, how you can serve a $21 cheese plate with no depth. A couple slices of Brie, few chunks of cheddar, thin apple slices, dried cranberries, and some walnuts with raw sugar ain’t it. If you’re going to create a great restaurant, you’re going to miss the mark keeping that dish on your menu. Other than that, Bandol had some really great food!
