Reviews
I have been going there for years and it just hasn’t been the same. Their food used to be delicious. Today I ordered the Macho Burrito no meat. It was $15.75 with tax. There were 3 problems with my order.
•The meal was basically inedible. Today, they mostly just filled the burrito with spoiled lettuce. At first I thought there were no beans, but there were beans. Usually, even though the Macho Burritos are HUGE I devour them in minutes because they are so good. Today I ended up having to call them and let them know they served me spoiled food. (See photos of rotten lettuce from burrito)
•If you order take out, they don’t keep your food warm for pickup either. The food was cold.
•The tortilla chips were burnt.
Thus, their cook knowingly prepared a spoiled meal with rotten lettuce and burnt chips – and served it to me cold as an overpriced $16 burrito. As a customer and local to Mar Vista of several years, this is very frustrating and disappointing. I used to LOVE getting burritos here when out of groceries, after a long work day ending with a big appetite, or having too much to drink and needing a big meal the following day, etc. Someone else mentioned in a different review that there is a vibe they might not like Caucasian people there, and may give them bad service intentionally. This is not fair either, as a local Caucasian who has supported their business for years.
The Resolution:
Their resolution was not desirable. Very little customer service was offered to resolve the situation. They offered a refund, or a replacement, but I will have to make an extra trip there now, and now have to go replace the dinner. I specifically got the takeout because I had to stay in bed sick all day, and not feeling up for cooking or groceries, and also have several hours of work to do for my small business by tomorrow. He told me if I wasn’t feeling well, that “I could’ve just ordered Grub Hub.” This is irritating because then I would have also paid delivery fees, and tipped a delivery driver to be delivered the spoiled food. That is not a desirable situation either. He could’ve offered to send a delivery driver to me with a fresh meal, but did not do that – so then why bring Grub Hub up?!
It is beyond inconvenient to waste so much time ordering and picking up take out, just to be served spoiled food.
They also raised their prices, despite now having lower quality of food. I will no longer eat at Campos.
What made the visit even more enjoyable was the friendly staff. They were welcoming and made me feel right at home.
Located right next door to a medical marijuana dispensary, I can imagine many people like myself come here after gaining an appetite from cannabis. It’s the perfect spot to satisfy those post-cannabis cravings.
Overall, Campos Tacos is a must-visit for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning.
