The food was so good that we decided to also order some extra nigiri and appetizers afterwards and the entire experience will be a memorable one. Can’t recommend enough!
Food style and quality is excellent. It is simple and elegant in a more true edo style sushi. Contrary to alot of other spots the flavors aren’t drowned in mayo based sauces.
Their new menu items were a great hit for my tastes. Texture and flavors are awesome I recommend the fries green beans especially. Their tempura is lightly battered and deliciously crispy. Chef sent out a small osecchi box that had some fun pickled dishes to go with the bottle of sake I ordered.
Speaking of sake. Edoko easily has one of the best sake selections in dfw. The sakes would all be highly rated in Japan and they range across all spectrums of the sake taste profile. I’d honestly go just to sit at the bar and drink their sake menu down. Rec would be the dassai 45 as they pour it from 1.8!
They accommodated my food allergies of egg, gluten, and dairy without any issues but I couldn’t order the Omakase because the food is pre marinated in early that had gluten.
Overall this was a nice change of pace that I can easily recommend, but it comes with a price.
I stopped by for lunch while I was in town for work, and was so satisfied that I went back for dinner at night.
I opted for the omakase at dinner which was spread across 6 courses (including dessert).
The star of the show is definitely Chef Jun’s nigiri.
His craft is immaculate. The fish is fresh, there’s a perfect amount of variety, and it’s not overbearing with sauce or toppings so you can appreciate the fish.
I think the 5-piece nigiri sampler is perfect for someone who wants to experience something a little different than just rolls.
I would’ve loved to see a larger nigiri-focused menu option, but I think the 5+ a la carte also works perfect.
For the first couple dishes, I think the presentation could use a bit of flair (particularly the chawanmushi). I’m also not a huge fan of aspic, but that’s more personal. The Foie Gras Risotto was delicious, although quite a bit of a jump in umami/flavor than the more mild appetizers.
Sara and her team are wonderful and you can tell the passion they put into the business! Will definitely come back when I’m in the area again.
