Located in the middle of a small town with a cool, peaceful atmosphere.
The staff was very friendly and happy to take our order. She laughed with us and we enjoyed the experience eating here even more with her happy attitude.
The food was cooked perfectly, the bread was perfect for a philly cheesesteak.
The only reason I gave a 4 star was that I prefer a lil more seasoning on my sandwich..
Seriously, everything was cooked perfectly! Onions and peppers both cooked down and seasoned well. The bread was soft yet firm enough to hold the juice from the meat and it was loaded with melted provolone.
I got a foot long stretch with my cheese on one bite!!
I will go back again for sure!
I recommend going here!

Family lunch loved this spot! Plenty of seating, clean, inviting family & dog friendly. We enjoyed a cold brew from the extensive selection and the food was really good. Ordered wings, chicken sandwich, burger and fried pickle spears. Gotta tell you everything was on point. Very casual and friendly staff they also have a vast selection of wine which we will try next time. Check them out you won’t be disappointed.

Pretty cool place and the food was awesome! Suggest getting the Thai Chili Brussels Sprouts, which were marvelous! The Boneless Wings and Doses XX. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing.

I would describe Chupacabra as a place with restaurant prices, but fast food service and food. It’s a beautiful little diner with a very Texan, U.S. vibe, which I love. The employees were very nice and respectful. After you order your food, you pay right away, not after you eat. This is also the time they ask you for a tip. I gave 15% figuring I’d risk it since they seemed nice. Not too much of a tip but not disrespectful. However, the most you get after the initial interaction is someone dropping your food off at the table. Though they call it out of a window, and we had to get our own food for one of the three meals we had. You also have to get your own drinks at a soda fountain. The food was good, but fast food good. You dont get plates. Our nachos came in a plastic container. The main food comes in plastic baskets. When you’re done, you throw out your trash and place the basket on top. All of this is not a big deal at all, I just think the prices are a little high for what you get, and there’s not really a reason to tip Since you pretty much do all the things a waiter would do. The sodas are all off brand and pure cain sugar, which I love, and it tasted amazing. However, if you prefer name brand, they have some bottled soda there as well. Overall, this is a really nice place to visit, just be ready to pay a little bit extra for the experience.

Stopped here on our way back to San Antonio and glad we did! Hard to find places with fried pickle spears instead of chips, so already a win in my book.
We got burgers with fries and tots and everything was hot and tasty. The seasoning on the fries and tots add a great flavor without being overpowering and the sauce it comes with is also good. They will even deliver your food to the bar next door.
Will definitely make a plan to come back.

Really great place. The burgers and wings were delicious. Fry sauce was not bad but nothing special. The onion rings were perfect. The only down side is the pub is separate from the restaurant, but you can eat in the pub/bar. Can’t wait to try it in the fall when we go back!

A first visit for us at the Chupacabra Kitchen. The staff was phenomenal! The best! Exceptional customer service from the moment we stepped inside until we left. They offer fantastic service here. Everyone was personable and friendly.
The establishment is clean and the decor is super cool. The atmosphere is welcoming, and it was a relaxing place for dinner after a long day.
It’s not a large dining area, but I found it to be the perfect size. It’s almost cozy and such a nice change from the crowded cities. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed the quietness of the cozy dining area. We really loved the experience at the Chupacabra Kitchen.
For starters, we ordered the fried pickles. Delicious! I can say they are some of the best I’ve had, and the Ranch dressing served on the side is perfect!
I had the bacon cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. Their signature sauce is fantastic. The rings could have been cooked a little longer. I like my rings with a bit of crunch, and these were on the soft/soggy side, which I did not find very appetizing. My burger was pretty good, but not the best I’ve had.
Hubby had the bacon cheeseburger with a side of French fries, and he enjoyed all of it.
If you’re in Salado, stop on in. The food is decent, the staff is absolutely terrific, and the establishment is a wonderful place to dine. It’s just a wonderful experience and a nice change from the crowded and loud restaurants of the larger nearby towns and cities.

Holy cow, I’m obsessed! Where do I begin? The burger was amazing—the toppings, the soft bun, and the layered bacon were perfect. The fresh, seasoned fries with a side of homemade fry sauce (mayo + ketchup) were a great touch. The drink selection is impressive (beers + wines) —even offering non-alcoholic wine! I will be back!!

When it comes to a historic town, you want something memorable: a setting, the history, eats, and drinks— you can order, eat in, or take out in the kitchen or eat in at the Chupacabra Craft Beer next door. Hey lol you can take it anywhere- which is what I did around the corner and to some live music.
Wings! Dry rub! Need I say more! The quick sides are memorable and the brussels sprouts oh so yummy. The menu is actually on my fridge! Bon appétit!

We stopped by Chupacabra while visiting a relative stationed at Fort Cavazos. Even better was that it was a Monday, where they offer a 25% discount off the total bill if you have any military or first responders in your party!
It was over 100°F outside and they are located next to a creek where several of the customer’s children were cooling off in. Their frozen cocktails definitely hit the spot in the midst of this blazing Texas heat.
The staff on both the restaurant and bar sides were very friendly and helpful in recommending items. We only ordered bar foods, but all were quite delicious adn reasonably priced. I also enjoyed their expansive merch selection and was happy to take home a new t-shirt.
