When I brought this to the staff’s attention, the response was dismissive and unprofessional. I was told, “It’s like that only,” with no attempt to listen, explain properly, or offer any solution. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that many locals, including my brother who recommended it, consider reputable.
To make matters worse, when we ordered an additional biryani to-go and clearly stated it was separate, we were charged gratuity twice. The staff insisted it was our mistake, instead of acknowledging their error. This left a very negative impression.
I rarely post reviews like this, but this experience warranted honest feedback. I hope management seriously reevaluates their service standards and food quality because customers deserve better.
Final rating: 1.5/5 and that is solely for the seating.
The Mysore masala dosa was soggy, with only the masala and chutneys being somewhat decent.
The vada was inedible – it was rock-hard and difficult to break apart, so we sent it back and had it removed from the bill.
The Baby Corn 65 was a major letdown, being extremely spicy, rubbery, and warm. It had a suspiciously bright color, which seemed to be from artificial food coloring, and it left me with throat irritation and heartburn that persisted all night.
Overall, it was a highly disappointing experience.
We ordered well in advance (before 9 PM) and were told to pick up by 10 PM. After celebrating, when we finally opened the food around 12:30 AM, it smelled terrible and was clearly spoiled. This was extremely upsetting, especially because it was meant for a special occasion with friends and family.
The next morning, we contacted them, but the response was unhelpful. Instead of taking responsibility, they said they would “check with the chef” and offered no real apology, explanation, or compensation. Even after paying such a large amount, we were left with inedible food and a ruined experience.
We still have the biryani at home as proof, along with photos showing the condition. For the amount charged, this is unacceptable. We hope management takes this seriously, as no customer should go through such a disappointing experience.
I generally don’t leave reviews, even when I enjoy a place—but Nawabi Hyderabad House in Pittsburgh truly deserves a big shout out. During my 4-day stay in the city, I ended up having every single meal from here—and I have no regrets. The food is absolutely fantastic and full of authentic flavors that stand out.
Appetizers were a highlight—each one better than the last. My personal favorites include Apollo Fish, Tandoori Mix Grill, Karampodi Chicken, Karampodi Shrimp, Masala Fish Fry, and Karampodi Baby Corn. Every bite was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection.
And when it comes to biryanis and pulavs—this is where they really shine. I tried few of their biryanis, and each had its own unique touch. I became an instant fan of the Nawabi Goat Biryani and Nawabi Chicken Biryani. The Potlam Pulav (both chicken and goat) was equally outstanding—rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying.
Believe it or not, what I tasted was just a fraction of their vast menu. Yet, every dish had its own distinct taste and was consistently excellent. If you’re anywhere near Pittsburgh, I highly recommend paying Nawabi Hyderabad House a visit. You’ll be glad you did!
Cheers
Hari
I had the chicken dum biryani and it was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. It had absolutely no taste — completely bland. I asked at the reception for some onions to go with it, and was told they are already included in the biryani. But when I opened the box, there were none. No flavor, no onion, nothing. Total waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend this biryani to anyone.
The chicken pulav was recommended and was very authentic and tasty. I jad enough left that I can make 2 more meals later this week.
The grocery store and restaurant are awesome and a must go place if you are in Cranberry.
