I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently taken ownership of Clay and Oven — a place that has long held a special spot in the hearts (and appetites) of our community. I chose to purchase this restaurant because it represents more than just good food. It’s a place where tradition meets flavor, where families gather, and where every meal tells a story. I’ve always admired the rich, authentic tastes that Clay and Oven offers, and I saw an opportunity not just to continue its legacy, but to elevate it even further with care, passion, and fresh ideas. My goal is to honor the restaurant’s roots while bringing in a renewed energy that celebrates both the food and the people who love it. Thank you for being part of this journey.

I usually wait a few times of eating somewhere before writing a review but this was the second time we have ordered from here as so many people have recommended it and this has to be the worst Indian food I have ever had. The red curry in the first pictured had a very pungent sweet taste and a texture like someone mixed whipping cream with sweet and sour sauce. There was little to no paneer in it and was arguably inedible.. I don’t think anyone would consider this curry. The green curry (spinach pictured) was quite literally just an insane amount of curry with no sauce and also very little paneer.. no flavour outside of cooked spinach.

We ordered the onion bhaji and I cannot describe to you how shocked we were when we too them out of the bag. The bag they came is was dripping grease and the food was rubbery and ice cold.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed. As vegetarians we eat a lot of Indian food and I promise you anywhere else would be better to go than here.

Recently returned to the Clay Oven for dinner for the first time after the ownership change. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner but unfortunately have to say that the service could be better. We ordered a bottle of wine which we had to open. The table wasn’t cleared even after paying the cheque. We hope things improve as we want them to succeed.

We thought we would give our local Indian Restaurant another try. We hadn’t been in years. Our first experience was not very good. Sadly, this experience solidified that the quality and taste of the food is so far below par. The gravy is thin as water. The spice (I love spicy) level overshadows the flavour of what Indian cuisine is. We’d love to buy local — sadly I’d drive an hour to get real Indian cuisine. Oh, and we were charged 6.00 per piece of Naan —-fool me once shame on me. Fool me twice shame on you.

We’ve had the Clay Oven a few times over the past year and we absolutely love it! The Butter chicken has a beautiful mild and sweet flavor. The staff are very thoughtful and offered my son and I a drink while waiting for our take out order. Highly recommend!

I went with family, I have give credit to the host and service, he explained to us how spicy works in the food and of course the food came in a very professional manner and most important the taste was incredible. We loved everything about this place. I would definitely recommend it.

We ordered from Uber Eats last week. We ordered Lamb and Chicken Korma. The korma (which we order often from various Indian restaurants) was way too creamy/milky, like over powering. We know this is a sweet dish but it was too much. We also had a short black hair in the rice. We won’t be ordering from there again unfortunately.

Truly authentic India and Nepalese cuisine. My first time in the restaurant while passing by the Acton. The owner said it been under his new management just a couple weeks ago.

I guess I am going to make way through Action (being a lovely small town) every time I have to go to the North side and drop by the restaurant.

Placed an order for pick up. The gentleman who served us was friendly. It was confusing when we ordered on the phone as we ordered rice and we were not told that our mains already came with rice as a side. Luckily, we were able to leave the extra rice behind.
We ordered the tikka masala which was delicious. Unfortunately the butter chicken was sweet and lacked in flavour. We also found that the naan bread had an odd texture and was chewy. I have given this place a 3 star rating. It was okay, but I am not sure I would go back.

I have tried numerous Indian restaurants and sadly, this one is not as authentic as they claim to be. Tried butter chicken twice – last year and recently when they switched management and it honestly tasted the same, super sweet and the sauce is so liquidy, looked like a sauce we can buy in a can. Read other reviews about it and sounds like I am not the only one who’s noticed.

Probably won’t try again
