Understanding take-out is generally not as good as just prepared and piping hot in front of you, the food was still below par for the level it should have been. The shrimp in the Alfredo was perfect! It had a wonderful flavor, and was cooked correctly – not overcooked. The pasta and the Alfredo sauce didn’t really have anything special. It was not the (yuk) level of jarred sauce, but it was thin, lacked flavor, and did not stick to the noodles well. The noodles were fairly dry on top and sauce underneath. (To be fair, we had a 20 minute drive home and food settling will occur in that time.) The lasagne was mostly noodles. The chicken in the chicken parm seemed old, like it had been sitting a while before they assembled the dish. The edges were hard and dry. The sauce was the wonderful thing. It tasted like the sauce you want to get from an Italian restaurant. Consistency was perfect, flavor was all there. I was very happy with it.
The calzone was very good. It had a good radio of ingredients and cheese. It was crispy and chewy like a good calzone is. The problem was that I had to disassemble it to get all the green peppers out, which we requested “No peppers”. The mushrooms were not homemade – they were shaped like balls – that kind of breading- and were ok, but we prefer the hand breaded, so that’s just a matter of taste. The poppers were very good, but probably also factory pre-made (I’m not really sure – I’m easy and like most jalapeno poppers). I think we would go back to try again sometime, but generally speaking, we’ll likely stick to a couple of other places that are a bit better for our go-to Italian.
A very new jersey, new York atmosphere which I really enjoyed. We will go again. The pizza crust was nice crunchy but the pizza itself was a tad bit to thick for my taste. But the flavor was good. I had the Margherita and everything was fresh on it.
