This place is truly hit or miss. Dine-in service takes quite a while, likely due to being short-staffed. The food itself is inconsistent—either over-seasoned or under-seasoned, with no real in-between.
Be prepared to wait about 30–45 minutes for your food, and even then, the quality can vary. Our catfish was overcooked and too soft on the inside. We paid a total of $80 for two catfish dinners with sides and a shrimp basket, which felt overpriced given the experience.
Drink options are also limited and usually only include Kool-Aid, lemonade, or sweet tea.

️LET ME TELL Y’ALL SOMETHING!! ️
I DO NOT LIE on my reviews!! This was my first time visiting today. I had a taste for Meatloaf and I did not feel like cooking being that I had been working all dang day! Husband went to work and Kids was away for a few hours so I wanted to eat and relax!
I Came To The Right Place!! You Hear Me!!
They did not disappoint! They satisfied my Appetite and my Soul at the same time!! I was so hungry I bought myself 2 plates and some Kool Aid!!
The Beautiful Owner/Amazing Chef Nana was there and she was so nice kept checking on me. The staff was so welcoming and attentive let me know everything they have and do on certain days and kept checking on me as well. I really felt like I was at home with family even though I came alone!
I loved it and now it’s one of my new favorite restaurants. Next time I’m bringing my whole immediate family with me. We don’t care about no prices long as we getting what we paying for and y’all definitely set the bar high! I appreciate the southern hospitality. I recognized it immediately because I am just like them!!
We will see y’all soon family!!

No one speaks when you walk in the door went to the counter and was told to go to the table to take my order then stood there was some other lady working on something in the corner for another 2 to 3 minutes. Food too expensive no way I would have paid $25 for one piece of catfish and six shrimp

I’ve been coming to Nan Kitchen since Fall 2025 during my time at UTA as a college student and it quickly became one of my favorite spots. I was coming at least once a week for the rosemary baked chicken and rice and not once has it ever missed on flavor. Always fresh. Always seasoned perfectly. Always consistent.
The vibe inside is welcoming and relaxing ✨ It’s the perfect place to grab a solid meal after class or just sit down and enjoy good food. The atmosphere is always on point and the food never disappoints.
What really makes it stand out is the owner. He is so kind and always checks on you while you’re eating to make sure everything is good That personal touch means a lot and shows how much they care about their customers.
I definitely recommend ordering online through DoorDash because there is almost always a line in person. And honestly who wouldn’t want to get some good food
10 out of 10 ⭐ I constantly recommend Nan Kitchen to everyone.

The in dining experience wasn’t good at all. I wrote a review and it didn’t post, so I will make it brief and to the point. The wait staff needs to be properly trained and prepared to deliver! The mark was missed. No , “welcome to Nana’s!” or anything but the irony about it all sometimes when people know that you’re about to get a less than desirable experience it’s hard for them to look you in your face! I paid for 4 adult entrees 1 kids meal and 6 drinks bc my grand daughter also wanted a lemonade. This wasn’t a cheap meal however the experience reflected something different. We choose to support our BOB but be getting the short end of the stick! Our table was dirty the one laminated menu was DIRTY! I never got my tea after asking twice and it never came after being there for 1hour and 22 minutes. We all received our food in different increments with a time lapse of an average of 12 minutes! I was like this is a nightmare on my beautiful Sunday afternoon. I wanted a refund however my son insisted that we just leave and allow our experience to be shared to prepare the others! My expectations were moderate and I would have gave a Zero star on service if it was an option. I have patronized this establishment time after time and enjoyed my meal. The dining experience wasn’t good at all. Please use this as a chance to correct what needs to be fixed in order for your customers to enjoy their dining experience. I would’ve been embarrassed had I invited guest who had never been bc it was just that bad. The wait staff needs to be more engaged and not talking under their breath! It was so weird that the entire team seemed lethargic. We had to even get up and get our own plastic ware bc they didn’t have the bandwidth to even get it. I felt like I just got robbed .

I dined in at Nana’s Kitchen today along with my three grandson’s. the staff was the best. I didn’t get the manager’s name but she is so nice. She helped me decide with picky little eaters Lol! They love shrimp and catfish and they loved it. The Mac and cheese is a must try for sure. The green beans good, cornbread good. My grand kids loved the fries. This is what we ate and the kids and I can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu. We even met Nana so beautiful and nice.

Nana’s didn’t disappoint.
Our server, Ms. Brittany, was very friendly and professional. She made sure all of our dining needs were meet from the time we entered the restaurant up until we left. When we’re back in the area, we will be back.

My best friend and I took a trip to Dallas from OKC. We stopped here and the food was so good. We decided to get some Meatloaf and the Soothared pork chops. The portions where amazing. I will most definitely come back.

Service was great. Atmosphere felt hot. Food was not what I expected. My meatloaf doesn’t look like the pics. Its got an off putting texture to it. Sides were fine.

Nana’s Kitchen is one of the better Soul Food restaurants in the DFW.
I came in yesterday and ordered the Meatloaf with Cabbage, Yams and Cornbread. I added on a Kool-Aid and the cashier offered me the special (6 wings and fries for $7). The food was freshly prepared. Chicken wings were crisp, but I wasn’t crazy about their version of Cajun. The fries could have used some more of their special seasonings. I enjoyed the meatloaf, yams, cabbage and cornbread; I wish the cornbread was larger and in a more appealing shape for presentation purposes. Overall, I give them a 4 out of 5 for Food, Service and Value of $31.80.
