Really interesting and historic building with several different types of venues. I didn’t even scratch the surface. The Hawaiian chicken salad I had was delicious and flavorful. The service was attentive but not overbearing.

This place WAS my favorite restaurant in Toledo, but my latest experience was HORRIBLE. The hostess was rude and dismissive. Our waitress Maddie started off fine, but when we went to order another round of drinks, she told us (at 9:08) they closed at 9, which google maps said the restaurant closed at 10 (see connected picture). She took forever to bring the check and when requested, we got shot a dirty look.

My prime rib dip was aggressively charred, the fires were unseasoned. The portions have seemed to shrink, and the menu changed, getting rid of three of my favorite dishes, which our waitress said had been gone for a year, but I remember seeing on the menu in October.

I would not be writing this review if I was not so disappointed with a place I was looking forward to dining at. I have no intention of returning.

Eating at the Oliver house was a great experience. The atmosphere is amazing, staff is friendly, and the food is phenomenal! The duck wings are unique, and the Brew Pub pizza was fresh and delicious. We also had a pitcher of the Fake Juice IPA which I highly recommend.

“Originally opened as a hotel by William Oliver in 1859, who commissioned famed American architect Isaiah Rogers as designer. Rogers’ work includes the Ohio Statehouse, the Merchants Exchange Building on Wall Street, and the Tremont House hotel in Boston.

At the time of its construction, The Oliver House was attractively positioned in an area of Toledo considered to be the center of downtown, near The Middlegrounds railroad center. It was among the first hotels in the United States to have a fireplace (for heat) in every room and bathrooms with running water on every floor. It was truly ahead of its time and no expense was spared.

As the city of Toledo rose down the street, the hotel was unfortunately too far from the city core to survive – and the opening of The Boody House hotel, a more modern and centrally located building, didn’t help matters. By 1880, Oliver’s hotel had fallen on hard times and into disrepair. In the ensuing years, the building took on several different purposes: a rooming house, a lighting manufacturing facility for wagon wheels and other industrial parts, and it was completely stripped of much of its luxurious hotel infrastructure.

Over the 20th century, the building now known as The Oliver House was used for various purposes – showrooms for a company known as Successful Sales (in the 1960s), rehearsal spaces, small businesses and offices, and novelty toy sales. After that, it was strictly a warehouse.

When the building was acquired in the 1990s, it had electric service and running water but no central heating. With a lot of work, we breathed life back into The Oliver House by cleaning brick, refinishing floors and restored molding to make this beautiful building into what you see today.”

Hostess was not friendly at all! Sat at the table for a while why everyone who worked there actively ignored us. When our waiter finally came over he apologized for not seeing us and he was incredible after that. Food was really good and the atmosphere was very cool.

Sally was a nice waitress. She was very quick and very respectful.Five stars for Sally!! I like this her very much. I didn’t like my food. I took one bite of my sandwich with some degree of difficulty and I sent it back.(the meat was hard and I couldn’t bite through it, taste like over cooked ham)I had the Reuben sandwich and homemade potatoes chip. I save my appetite for this meal but It was not good. All the food looked good upon bringing it to the table. It was a total of 10 people and 1 baby. 3 out of 10 people, their food was good. Chicken and waffles looks good but my friend was unable to bite the waffles because it was hard as a brick. It was just not a good birthday dinner . Spoiled appetite.

Chill vibe and have the Maumee Bay Brewing Company at your fingertips. GREAT BEER! It’s been awhile since I had a burger and was craving one. As soon as I saw their peanut putter, jelly, bacon and cream cheese burger I knew I had to get it! And it was AMAZING. I could have ate two. If you’ve never tried this concoction of toppings on a burger I highly suggest it. Theirs is my favorite I’ve tried so far. Also the fries here are always tasty and not plain/boring like some places. Definitely go for lunch or just a chill evening dinner.

This place is great looking and the food was pretty delicious though the presentation on the plate was not the greatest. The worst part was the service. We went at 4pm on a Wednesday and there were about 2 other tables already seated and a few ppl at the bar. I would call this not crowded at all, but our server took FOREVER with everything. One of our people ordered a burger and fries, asked for ketchup and it took 8 mins for the server to come back which he was already 85% done eating at this point. No refills on water and it just was very sloppy service. Great place for unique buildings but need better time management with tables.
