Definitely one of the best creole restaurants in the bay, and probably the best one in SF in my opinion. The selection was great, I couldn’t decide what to order so I ordered everything: fried chicken plate with collard greens & mashed potatoes, chicken sandwich, soft shell crab, fried okra, and mini cornbread. The breading on everything fried was light and flavorful. I was esp surprised by how large the portion of soft shell crab, there was 3 per order! Collard greens were juicy, chicken tender, I’m already excited to go back again to try their other dishes!

Food here was great and the customer service was even better! I opted for the chicken & andouille sausage jambalaya with a side of garlic bread which was delicious and full of big chunks of chicken. The garlic bread was light, full of flavor and the swamp water ice tea was refreshing. The young lady that took care of me was very attentive and exceptionally nice. The atmosphere was really peaceful and pleasant in a nice neighborhood.

Poboys serves up Cajun soul food in a quaint and cozy, colorful restaurant in Potrero Hill. A warm welcome greeted me as I entered, and I sat down at one of their colorful tables surrounded by pops of color, and the aromas of deliciousness. I can’t go to a soul food restaurant without ordering okra, so I got that, and boy was I pleased. These tasty little crunchy morsels came with a side of jalapeño aioli, and I don’t normally like aioli, but this one was a hit. Next I opted for the fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes and gravy and collard greens. Whatever they batter that chicken with should be patented, it’s seriously good. The whole meal came out hot and flavorful. It’s a big plate of food so I could have split all this with another person and been satisfied. Now I have another meal to look forward to at home. Check out this spot and enjoy yourself a delicious meal.

Awesome food experience… we got the fried chicken meal (collard greens & mash potatoes) & the shrimp po boy. Everything was seasoned to perfection.

Solid Southern food in my neighborhood. I got fried chicken. Take about 20 mins but the chicken is freshly fried piping hot. The collard greens and mashed potato are good too. My friend got the burger and it looks amazing as well: thick patty and generous load of fries and the special sauce. I would love to try more traditional southern food like jambalaya next time!

The seafood jambalaya was very impressive, and the garden salad was one of the best over ever had. The waitress was lovely too, and the whole experience was fantastic. Definitely give it a try.

⭐️ A Hidden Gem in San Francisco — PoBoys Kitchen

Sometimes the best meals happen by pure chance. We were supposed to head somewhere else that day, but every place we planned to visit was either closed or packed to the door. Call it luck or fate — it led us straight to PoBoys Kitchen, and what a discovery it turned out to be.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. The tall, friendly man who seated us didn’t just show us to our table — he dropped right into a conversation with my youngest, our 3-year-old, sharing a laugh and even a fist bump as if they’d known each other for years. That kind of warmth set the tone for everything that followed.

We started with crispy onion rings as an appetizer — perfectly golden, crunchy on the outside, tender inside, and paired with house sauces that made each bite addictive. Then came the star of the show: the Alligator Po’ Boy special. The sandwich was packed with flavor — tender, seasoned alligator with that perfect Cajun kick — and came with a side of fries that were just as impressive, crisped to perfection and seasoned right.

My oldest went for the chicken plate with mashed potatoes, gravy, and collard greens, and I’ve never seen him so delighted by mashed potatoes in my life. The gravy was rich and comforting, the collards flavorful and balanced. He even stopped the man we believe was the owner just to say how delicious everything was — that’s how good it was.

Meanwhile, my youngest enjoyed a creamy, cheesy mac ’n’ cheese that absolutely didn’t disappoint. Every bite was kid-approved and parent-approved.

To drink, we ordered the Swamp Tea, and let me tell you — oh my god. I’m not usually one to order flavored iced teas with a meal, but this was next-level. Sweet, smooth, and refreshing — I had to slow myself down just to savor it.

We left happy, full, and already talking about what we’ll try next time — especially those beignets we missed out on. Thank you, PoBoys Kitchen, for turning what started as a backup plan into an unforgettable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back soon.

I don’t know how many words can describe “delicious,” but this food? It made my taste buds throw a party and my wallet didn’t even argue. One bite and I considered proposing to the chef. And don’t even think about skipping the swamp water—it’s a mysterious, magical drink that shouldn’t taste that good… but it does. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried this. Cancel your dinner plans. Go. Now.
