Overall, it was good.

Good bits: the chicken was fantastic. The menu is fun and experimental but everything on the menu is accessible.

The price is fair.

Bad bits:

35 mins from arriving to my drink arriving. It was a large party but I only ordered a beer. Not the end of the world but below par.

The food, whilst delicious was a faff. It’s cute that it was served in a little box but honestly I’d just rather have it on a plate.
The vibe is decent but it’s VERY humid and claustrophobic when busy.

In general the bads are largely outweighed by the good. I’d come back, but on a weeknight when it was quieter.

My favourite restaurant in the world. If you want flavour, there is no better place to go! You will understand when you visit! Cocktails are unreal too, people are wonderful, vibe is cool, simply superb.

we moved to Norfolk 4 years ago. as self confessed foodies, we have been bowled over by the choice of excellent independent restaurants in the area. looking for somewhere to eat before a show at The Playhouse, we booked a table at XO, just opposite. I am not a great fan of fusion food, in my experience they can sacrifice flavour for unusual combinations. not the case here. a small well considered menu full of flavour. we had the pork won-tons, squash massaman curry, korean fried chicken and watermelon salad. won-tons packed with pork, extra crispy. KFC, super crispy yet smothered in spicy sauce and the watermelon salad a real surprise. chunks of watermelon in an asian dressing with chili. (i did ask what the dressing was made of but was told it was a secret – nevertheless i intend to try to replicate at home). Ambience more cafe than restaurant, relaxed with an oddly enjoyable music selection (i am in my 60’s), attentive and knowledgeable staff. price is very reasonable and portions perfect. will definitely make the effort to come back and try more dishes. highly recommended.

I like the location and vibe of this place, and the service was also good. Ordered 8 different dishes to share amongst 4 adults. I’d say 6 is probably enough if you go this route. Prawn skewers was IMO the best dish, followed by the watermelon salad. With some of the other dishes, we found the food over spiced and seasoned. Very strong flavours that overpowered the actual main ingredients. Felt like heartburn on a plate in some cases.
I think the kitchen needs to address balancing their dishes better. For example, if one orders chicken, you still want to taste the chicken. Presentation itself is pretty good.

Yummy reward after a week of hard work

Lunch date at @xo__kitchen

Finally managed to try the duck leg, fried rice, and crispy fried egg (I fondly call “ducksilog” as is so reminiscent of Filipino breakfast ‘silog’ dishes) and my husband had the Korean fried chicken with Asian slaw. We ended it with the whipped pistachio cheesecake, poached rhubarb, & ginger crumble which was so so gorgeous (refreshing and not too sweet). I loved it all.

I went with four other friends and everyone seemed to have an enjoyable time and loved the food.

We picked about two choices each off the menu and shared them. Each course arrived quickly and was well prepared. I chose the Korean Chicken, which was nicely hot and spicy and also the watermelon salad, which tastes delicious.

Definitely worth trying out this restaurant as there is nothing else like it in Norwich. My bill for three course was around the thirty pound mark.

Wow! I was so surprised about how much I enjoyed the food here! Friends brought us along and made us try a variety of dishes and we lived all of them! The portion sizes were great and the food was amazing. I’ve seen that they update the menu regularly as well so you’re not ordering the same things for 5+ years at a time like some restaurants! Not a huge place so would definitely recommend booking to reserve a table

This place is a must visit for Norwich, absolutely incredible, definitely some of the best in the area. Everyone I know loves and raves about XO and rightly so, the venue is lovely along with the staff and the food is reasonably priced considering how good it is. I do wish you could see what’s on the menu when booking or before going as it seems to change often and the website wasn’t up to date when we visited – would only like to know so I can time my next visit to try different menu items
