Tajhe is an exceptional worker. I was impressed. Crab bisque was yummy. My filet mignon was butter melting in my mouth. Gravy was too salty and the French fried onion rings were not edible. Mashed potatoes we’re good and didn’t touch the green beans. The southern rum bread pudding was 1/2 a pan!!! Yum!!!!!

Wow, if the food taste matched the food looks this place would be fantastic. Instead, we left a bit disappointed. Of the three dishes we had at our table, the Grouper was the best of the three; both sides though were cold and the greens were on the sweet side. The eggplant dish and the crab quesadilla dish were not worth every ordering again. The eggplant was undercooked. There was plenty of crab in the quesadilla and it was oddly tasteless.

My gosh. We just ate here and got the Thursday filet mignon for old times sake. It was melt in your mouth tender , I got the tomato vinegarette dressing and it was the best ever. I added a lobster tail with melted butter and it was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was named “special “. She was perfect with everything. It was a meal to remember.

This is our third year coming to the area and this was hands down the best meal we’ve had yet. The Creole and Rockefeller oysters were fantastic but the star of the show was the grouper pontchartrain. Best grouper we’ve ever had. The fried oyster salad was delicious as well. Our server Jocelyn was friendly and attentive. Wish we would have come here at the beginning of our vacation vs the end because we would definitely go back!

I could write so much more, but I’m going to keep this short and sweet. We went on a couple’s date for valentines date night. The food was amazing. We ate every bite. Our waitress was phenomenal. She was attentive, knowledgable of the menu, and incredibly affable. Again, the food was so so good, the atmosphere was great for a date night, and the staff were exceptional. 5 stars all around.
The reason for the 4 star rating…is that we weren’t informed of the charging rates for the valentines dinner for 2 and ended up with a bill that was almost double what we were expecting. Also, the alcohol up-charge here is insane compared to other restaurants in the area.

This was our first visit. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made sure my dietary restrictions were met. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is lovely. We mentioned it was our anniversary and the server brought us complimentary champagne and dessert. Our only disappointment was the bar. The bartender was not knowledgeable about what the bar carried and there is no high-end rum. We expected more from a place of this caliper. 4-star rating is based on poor bar service, knowledge, selection. Truthfully, this might be a deal breaker for us returning.

The setting is absolutely gorgeous. We dined out in the deck and we enjoyed watching the sunset and seeing all of the fishing boats.
Out server, Chris was very helpful and recommended the blackened ahi which was amazing!!!
We would definitely go back next time we are in town on vacation.

We came back to Shipp’s again this week to try the Grouper Pontchartrain special for $24 (regularly priced $38). Fresh Gulf Grouper, Panko Encrusted,
Shrimp, Jumbo Lump Crab, Mushrooms,
lemon Butter was amazing paired with our go to bottle of king estate Pinot Gris. It was all amazing! I’m not sure what is better grouper night or steak night? I guess we’ll have to try them both next week to be sure.
Our servers was on point tonight as well despite the restaurant being much busier during Thanksgiving break week.

We totally enjoyed Shipps Dockside Grill. We liked the atmosphere. The place is surrounded by water and big boats. I had the Bella filet and it was the most tender and tasty one I ever had. And we’re very fussy when it comes to steaks. Two people had the grouper and they were very pleased with it. We heard from our friend’s dentist in Wisconsin that the grouper was to DIE for. We got there for happy hour and the drinks were reasonably prized. We topped the evening off with the brownie desert and bread pudding. Both were gourmet as was the whole meal. I wish we would have found this place sooner. The last thing I want to say about Shipps is the acoustics were good and you could carry on a conversation and hear. Our server (Liz….) was delightful. He was very attentive and had a good sense of humor. If we ever make it to Orange Beach again. We definitely will go there again. The owner was cooking but we met him when we were out pontooning and he helped us get off the pontoon (let us use his ladder as we’re old!) when we stopped for a drink. He told us about his place and we decided then to give the place a try. WOW!!!
