Mind Set On Travel
Had a wonderful lunch with the family. Of the meals eaten – Western Skillet, Blueberry Pancake, Hot Beef Sandwich with mash potatoes and gravy. Was so good we forgot to take pictures. We topped it with ice cream.

I came here for breakfast with a friend and ordered my bacon specifically super crispy and brown- only for the order of it to arrive halfway raw, limp and barely cooked. This isn’t the first time the bacon has arrived like this after I order it crispy! The ‘toast’ with my meal was basically two uncooked pieces of bread with butter on it. The food made both of us feel sick. We paid around 35$ for just the two of us to eat. Way overpriced for what you get. Waitress was nice but never came back to check up on us or refill our drinks. Won’t be coming back.

The food was good, and priced decent. The burger and fries can on a plate way too small but the food was properly proportioned.

Waited for half hour for waitress. Then she finally comes over after taking care of people that came after us. And whinned she was by herself. If she would’ve came over and said sorry I’m behind I wouldn’t make a stink about. Other girls have worked by themselves.

When in Iowa, specifically the Sutherland/Cherokee area, I always eat at the Family Table Restaurant once of not three times a day. I have been doing so for over twenty years. The service has always been good to fair. The food always outweighed the service
This time, the service, or lack of, outweighed the food.
Family Table was busy with a lunchtime gathering, yet there were still empty tables.
I did not need a menu since I knew what I wanted. I ordered, and the server who took my order left. When she came back with my coffee and cup, she tossed my napkin wrapped silverware on the table and left. When she brought my order, she did the same thing. That was the last time I saw she came to my table. After I finished my meal, I waited and waited for my tab. It never came, so I went to the cashier area where I was met by my server. She continued to act as if she was rushed, rang up my tab, and then nicely asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I did.
I’ll be back because she won’t be there. I have never seen the same wait staff member at the Family Table twice. So by May she’ll be long gone.
Should you be in the vicinity of Cherokee, Iowa, have a meal at the Family Table Restaurant. Don’t hold my bad experience against it.

Got broasted chicken that wasn’t fully cooked still bloody. Also got food we didn’t order and the waitress didn’t want to admit she messed up. Problem with getting our ticket fixed and major attitude problems from staff.
