The best Senegalese food I’ve ever had in the US. It is superrrrr authentic, and it hits the spot. I’ve only ever tried their thiebudienne, but it’s delicious and very comforting. The atmosphere is ok, I’d recommend getting take away and eating outside on a nice day.

Placed a pickup order, said ready in 30 minutes. Get there, the door is locked despite closing at 10. I call, nobody answers. Lady opens the door and stares at me without saying a word or holding the door. Go inside, lady at the counter is rude and the food isn’t ready. I understand Senegalese food very much involves seafood but there’s really no reason for an African restaurant to reek of fish when you don’t even get that at Papa Deux’s or any seafood place. I was really excited to try food that gives me good memories and this place disappointed me.
Please don’t waste your money, time, or energy on this place.
Update: I threw the food away. Such a shame, I hate wasting food but it was oily, slimy, and was separated like a broken roux.

Worse place to eat at. They are extremely racist and thats crazy because your african in America. The land of inclusion they will skip over regular paying custom to help they friends and family. Pretty much if u dont know anybody there u gone be waiting a long long time. Super rude! Place is dirty, staff rude. Definitely alot more better places to go then here. Terranga,221, sene grill ( osman the owner would never rrqt anybody bad) yummi express, island Fridays way better

Food: Delicious tchep!
I always order at least 4 plates of tchep djen and 1 or 2 plates of tchep guinar.
Service: Some staff is courteous others will not say thank you or acknowledge your presence. It depends on who serves you. But overall, it has been a great experience!! ❣️
The restaurant could use a good cleaning. It seems that most people order takeout so maybe that explains why the inside is not great.

Nice place that is hidden away in northside. Lamb is tasty and has a nice spice to it however some peices can be a little tough. Comes with nice pickled onions and a side. I got brown rice which was great. Can get very busy around dinner time. More suited for takeout

Everyone is so friendly, I’ve been eating here since working in Cincinnati last year to the point where now that I don’t work in Cincinnati I was willing to drive 40 mins just for the food! Love this place

food from darou salem restaurant is incredibly yummy.
AND they make everything fresh fresh; there’s a short wait between ordering and receiving order but it’s more than worth it imo. plantains, dibi lamb, and fish are my go-tos!
i bought lunch here for my best friend too, and she LOOOOOVED everything especially the fish and plantains
now about atmosphere and structure. there’s a chill, laid-back vibe within the restaurant. the order counter is clean and typically operated by gentle speaking and friendly persons. there’s nice low lighting [easier on the eyes and it sets a nice vibe to decompress]
there’s both indoor and outdoor seating too, though the outdoor patio seating seems to accommodate more than just darou salem guests. so that may lead to less seating available during specific hours and/or on specific days. idk, there’s been seating available for my party everytime we went, but still something to keep in mind if dining in
overall though, i love it here! it’s a whole vibe, the food is excellent, and the service, friendly

The food is very delicious!!! If you like african or Senegalese cuisine, the Thiebou jen is my favorite.

Delicious food but they left the door open in the dead of winter and brought us in with all the chairs still up on the table and had us put down our own chairs. They also did not bring out water or offer it and it takes a long time to place your order since they are not in much of a rush. Not a big deal for good food but I don’t think you want to go here if you’re expecting the average restaurant hospitality. Definitely a place for take out.
