This place is an unexpected delight. Great modern decor creates a very hip atmosphere. Very good beer & cocktail selection. Then there’s the food, which is awesome. A nice mix of small plates and forks entrees. Mostly new American fare. My only complaint is there’s an open kitchen that didn’t seem to be very well ventilated, so we left smelling like a fryer. Despite that one flaw, I’d highly recommend this place and will definitely return whenever I’m back in Youngstown.

Please note: this review is for the former Struthers location only.

Beautifully presented and season too almost perfection, we can’t help but say how much we enjoyed our dinner at the kitchen post. This trip we had the catfish tacos with a side of cheddar grits and the shepherd’s pie. The only slight disappointment was the portion size of the shepherd’s pie but that being said it was very filling without being overwhelming.
Friendly staff in very quaint, fast casual kind of set up. Meal for 2 people cane to under $20, that was including drinks. I do believe that the pictures will speak for themselves and I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary and off the beaten path.
We look forward to going back again for a most pleasurable dining experience.

Been here a couple times. Always enjoyed some delicious food! The weekend brunch Chicken and Waffles are my favorite! Small dining area that gets busy around noon for the lunch rush, so get there by 11. Good service and cool atmosphere. Not ideal for kids, but okay. On cold days, it’s harsh to sit by the door because the cool breeze rushes in. Overall I highly recommend this Youngstown staple.

Food was EXCELLENT! I had a stack of blueberry pancakes, which were totally unique in their style (see picture), but tasted great. What impressed me most, though, were my cheese grits — the best that I’ve had since I moved back up north! While the food was great, our wait was terrible. We probably spent about 30-45 minutes waiting for a table, hovering awkwardly inside of the doorway of the restaurant with all the other unseated patrons, with cold air rushing in at us every time the door was opened. The hostess did a terrible job with seating, and we waited far longer than many of the diners who came in after us. Once we were seated, the waiter did a fair job and was responsive to our needs, but the kitchen was ridiculously slow. Basically, what we thought would be a quick bite for breakfast turned into a 2 hour ordeal. I’d definitely recommend trying this restaurant, but not if you’re in a rush, and I’d aim for arriving either right when they open or trying to hit an off-peak time.

This place was great! The chicken and waffles has to a best seller because it was incredible. The pineapple upside down pancakes were good, very filling. The coconut creme was great, but they needed more pineapple and cherries incorporated. The Bloody Mary was basic and tasty. The Irish coffee was great. Saturday brunch they were very busy. Lots of extra space upstairs. This would be a freest venue for a party, shower, etc. I’m not sure if they cater.

I have been to the Kitchen Post many times. There is sometimes a wait, which is not their fault. After we waited 15 minutes for a seated we waited an additional 10 minutes for a waitress. Then the food took much longer than usual and some of the items were cold others just warm. When the food arrived it was just ok definitely much different than previous visits. In the past the food was always excellent and hot. I don’t know if this visit was a fluke or a new trend.

Found this place driving back to Pittsburgh from a BJJ tournament. It was really great. Sat at the bar, which had very tasty local craft beer on tap. Interesting but not pretentious items on the menu. I got a fried chicken biscuit sandwich and chorizo taco, and they were both absolutely delicious.

Fish tacos were small and mostly breading and very little fish. Fries were amazing. Nice atmosphere and good wait staff.

Hands down one of our favorite local spots. The food and atmosphere is something our area has needed for a long time. Great people and the food never disappoints!
