We saw the sign that said “Don of the day” which peaked out interest. Everyday Shodo offers a different rice bowl special. We decided to give it a go.
We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. The place is quiet without the hussle and bussle. The atmosphere is simple and elegant.
We ordered the tachoyaki two don bowls. One don set came with a salad and miso soup. We were very surprised at the quality of the food. Everything was excellent. The presentation was great. Everything was tasty and freshly made.
I would highly recommend and would definitely come back.

This place is definitely a premium experience. The sushi boxes were super high quality and tape sealed in gorgeous black boxes.
When we cracked the box open, I was amazed to see the beautiful assortment of different sushi in the box. The food was equally as tasty as it was beautiful. If you’re looking to splurge, then this place is the place to go!

Ordered takeout. Ate our food about 3 hours after getting home. Ordered E2 Tokyo Tasting Box + Unagi don. Sushi was delicious. Salmon melted in your mouth and was great tasting. Unagi don was very meaty and thickly sliced. Cooked perfectly and not overly sauced. Everything was just right. We’ll be back to try more.

I came here for lunch today to try the sushi set and vegetable tempura. The sushi set was mediocre – generous pieces of fish, nice plating, but the salmon sashimi slices were cut too thick and the maki rolls were packed with too much rice that fell apart easily. The veggie tempura was also just mediocre. Generous cuts of eggplant, sweet potato, and pumpkin with thick batter that lacked light crispiness. This may be a personal preference, but a few pieces of green veggies would have improved the tempura set in terms of visual appearance and variety. Shodo’s branding/philosophy highlights intricacy but based on the two dishes, I felt that this characteristic was precisely what was missing. Overall, this is a “nice to try spot” in Scarborough with visually appealing plating, friendly/polite staff, and just mediocre execution and sushi quality.

Sushi is good but def thought variety lacked a bit in the Osaka box. A lot of the rolls tasted the same because of the heavy mayo and inside fillings. The lettuce wrap was a great, creative addition. Fish is fresh tasting for sure and a step in quality. The discount was what made it worth it imo.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the GTA. I ordered the Tokyo box and was highly satisfied with the different varieties of items included in it.
Very fresh and high-quality ingredients used and very delicious. Their service was great. I highly recommend!

My mom and I came here to eat several times now because we like it so much! We’ve tried the chirashi don, aburi don, karaage don, and shodo sashimi don. We love their don set with soup and salad and their sushi is very fresh. Portion is perfect for one or to share. We also appreciate the daily don lunch special which makes it even more affordable for what it’s worth. We’ve also tried a few of the aburis before which my sister loved and the harmony sushi roll and kamikaze roll (which we ordered a few times already.) The rolls are so unique and tasty! Staff are also very friendly and efficient.

The food was amazing!! We got the Osaka Signature Box. Not only was the box beautiful, but it tasted even better than it looked. The service was great, they made sure our water/tea was filled and checked in on us to ensure we were okay. Although we went near closing, they still provided us excellent service and we did not feel rushed at all. Overall 10/10, will definitely come back!

The sushi rice was a bit too dry, making hard to pick up my unagi oshi, it was falling apart, tasted fresh tho.
Update: I did go back a second time and the rice was better. And the flavour: Tasted as good as the first time.
