First visit – I walked in and my dining companion was already sampling items. And as soon as I walk up, I am being handed samples as well. The staff offered me a bite of the bumblebee stew and the bourbon chicken. I liked both, but I had shown up for some more traditional Cajun food with some spice. And then I find out I don’t have to decide on one item – as you can order combo entrees for a small up charge. I happily ordered a combo bowl of jambalaya and gumbo. And they offer sour cream, cheese, green onion and jalapeño toppings – and I said “yes.” I enjoyed my first visit and have already decided on my choice for my next visit.

Absolutely love J. Gumbo’s in Delaware. A quaint New Orleans inspired place with 2 dining rooms. One in the front of the establishment and one in the back. They also offer outside seating at the picnic tables.
The staff is absolutely wonderful answering any questions and they offer a sample if you are unsure about spice level or what to choose.
Pictuered is the Bumble Bee stew served with bread but I opted for chips. Also optional, I topped with sour cream.

We tried some jambalaya and crawfish cheese dip with nachos. Both were delicious. Service was very hospitable. We were told we could try samples ahead of time, and we did.
Prices are very reasonable. We saw most people take their orders to go, but they have a nice area indoors and out.

Absolutely amazing. The food quality was top notch. The manager was serving and his service was fantastic. He encouraged samples and gave his recommendations. Everything was absolutely delicious. We had black and blue dip, voodoo chicken and honey sriracha chicken. We will definitely be back.

My goodness this food is great. It’s a diamond in the rough. I fear the location isn’t the best for this style food though. It might do better to relocate to Polaris area. Maybe inside the food court.

J Gumbo of Delaware is my go to caterer when we have a big event. Last night Richard provided food for our 50 hungry volunteer ghosts from our GhostWalk event at Boardman Arts Park. The food was delicious with lots of variety for every dietary need. So easy to work with he and his team, and it was perfect!

Whenever we’re in downtown Delaware OH, we always stop by J Gumbo’s for lunch. The food is tasty and generously portioned, at very reasonable prices. Great soda selections too! (For example, no other restaurant has their extensive diet pop options. Gotta save those calories for mac n cheese base or extra french bread with butter!) The service is always super friendly, and fast to boot. There’s also a cute dine-in area to enjoy your meal.
