Silver Gate was strongly recommended to me by a videoagrapher in Lamar Valley. They did not disappoint! (stopped 2xs).
Had the pulled pork sandwich basket and and…. oh my!!!! They brown the bun with real butter, use her grandma’s slaw recipe (amazong!!!) and the baked beans are loaded with delicious amounts of meat, flavor. Her BBQ sauce should be bottled and sold.
And they are both the kindest, most wholesome and inviting folks ever. Their southern goodness shines thru! Recommend you stop, grab a basket and sit with them to share stories, laughs and the love of the area.
Dani(?) also does some amazing rock paintings, one of which she was so kind to gift me.
I know this is a long comment, but when you find the goodness of people, places and food…. it deserves a long comment !
Thank you both so much for my full belly and happy heart ❤️

Great food and service! We stopped by after driving the Beartooth Pass and picked up the Keto Pork + Slaw, Bison dog, Elk dog and a grilled cheese. Drove into Lamar Valley to enjoy our meal while watching the wildlife. Everything tasted great! Loved that they had kept/low carb options!

Food and service was great. The lady who helped us was extremely nice and attentive to heating up the food and buttering the bread and such. Pricing was expensive, but good for the area and the picnic option on the menu is good for a big family! Great option for pick-up and go. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!!

I devoured the bbq pork sandwich, it was outstanding. Great service and spectacular view of the mountains.
Jimmy Mack regaled us with stories of leaving Memphis for Montana.
Don’t drive past, stop in and enjoy!

Best pulled pork sandwich I’ve had, highly recommended. The cold slaw and baked beans were great too but I felt it was expensive for the portion size (a normal sauce cup size each).
The elk brat was ok, I was hoping it would be tastier than a beef hot dog.

The owners are some of the coolest and nicest people I’ve ever met. Food was awesome. Very low key place at the quiet corner of the Yellowstone, and lots of stories you can know from them. This place was a great ending for my trip before heading home via Beartooth Pass.

We stopped there yesterday while on a birthday trip for my husband. What can I say that will do justice to this place. The people are great but the food is incredible. The slaw is her grandma’s recipe and the best I have ever had. We ordered their layered delight and were very happy with all the amazing flavors. As we had discussed I have submitted you guys for Triple D. Let’s hope Guy comes by to see you!

If you’re looking for the most authentic west roadside meal stop, look no further. Excellent food, made with care and simple healthy ingredients that are delicious. Lovely service and hats off to the long running small business that does it right.
Had the elk brat with homemade BBQ sauce and coleslaw. I’ll dream about this meal for a long while, simple as it seems!

Really good food. My son and I ate here twice while going in and out of the park. We had the layered delight both times. Great conversation with the owners, we enjoyed every bit of our time there.
