Stop #3 on my Pittsburgh Pizza tour!
Davide has been on my list for a long time and it definitely did not disappoint!
I ordered the large Old World pizza to go and it was huge slices, perfect for feeding 3 people.

Of course I had to try it right away in my car, just to get the freshness experience and to see what the hype was all about & wow, it was so good.

The crust is very crispy and also very thin which I like, but it was very flimsy on first bite but also very tasty.
If you like saucy pizza, (which I do) this one is for you. There’s not a ton of cheese on it, but that’s the beauty of this pizza and it’s served well done with lots of fresh basil leaves. No extra spices were needed to enhance the flavor.

My family was pleasantly surprised and loved this pizza- they said it might be one of their favorites.
I’ll definitely be back to try another pie.

Great service at the pick-up window made the trip even better. They do have an outdoor seating area with picnic tables in their parking lot if you prefer to eat there.

“And they even forgot the ranch”

I am aware of the phenomenon describing the higher likelihood of an individual to share a negative experience as compared to a positive one. I look back at all of the pizzerias I have ordered from and enjoyed, gone about the rest of the night and the next day looked forward to the leftovers sitting in the fridge, and wonder why I was not compelled to speak positively of my experiences. I am remiss that only a negative experience brings me to the platform that is Google reviews, but after the disappointment of this Sunday “pizza and wing night” I feel this is the only option.

Pictures posted proffer delicious pizza, but our reality tonight leaves me pessimistic about the state of pies in Pittsburgh. Our order consisted of a plain cheese pizza, a small order of buffalo wings, and mozzarella sticks with a side of garlic aioli and marinara sauce. The sauces were fine, and the mozzarella sticks were familiar, no different than those that you would find anywhere else. Unfortunately, this mediocrity was the high point of our meal. Upon opening the white cardboard box proudly announcing “Pizzeria Davide,” we were greeted by lifeless mozzarella cheese melted on an unremarkable plate of dough, hiding a red sauce trying to shine through, almost as if this was the last hope for redeeming the meal. Upon grabbing a room temperature slice from the box and bringing it to my mouth I was greeted by an aggressively average pizza. The spattering of dried herbs sprinkled over the top proved to be little more than decorative, and the only redeeming quality was the layer of parmesan cheese that seemed to have been thrown onto the pizza as an afterthought, existing as a separate part rather than an integrated component. Finally, the wings. As the first thing we saw, they didn’t leave us optimistic for the meal. The purported buffalo wings were black, sitting in a pool of orange-tinged oil. While blackened wings are not necessarily bad, burnt wings are, and any buffalo flavor that may have existed was masked. When opening a box of buffalo wings, one is normally greeted by the sharp aroma of the sauce and upon taking the first bite challenged by the spicy, saucy flavor. They were soft, greasy and, upon reaching for a dip of ranch, we were disappointed to find this part of order missing – rounding off an all-around disappointing meal.

I will caveat this review by saying we ordered delivery and some issues may not be the fault of the restaurant. We may have had an altogether different experience if dining in person, but in a city where there are countless options to get an outstanding slice of pizza, I don’t see myself trying Pizzeria Davide again…

Delicious. Best pizza I’ve had in Pittsburgh. One of the best pizza’s I’ve had ever, actually. And the wings were fantastic, too. Perfectly thin, crispy and flavorful crust, delicious red sauce and amazing mozzarella. We messed up by ordering off uber eats and it arrived cold but that is no fault of the restaurant. We’re within walking distance and will 100% be coming in person next time.

Not sure why all the negative reviews. We had a great experience. Food was fresh and flavorful. Price is on the high side and you can wait longer then other places. Will order from here again next visit to area

Love LOVE LOVE pizzeria davide!! Pizza is delicious and the old world tastes really authentic, like you’re in Italy. Subs are fantastic, the Italian sub is always packed to brim and cheesesteak is perfect comfort food. And everyone is so nice!! Vanetta always hooks it up and remembers us (and our dog) every time we stop by, it is a a true home-y, neighborhood joint

Walk up to order pizza. Prices are very reasonable for being in a tourist area. Pizza was good. Fresh out of the oven. Outdoor seating.

We aren’t from the area and are here in Pittsburgh for a mini vacation. Saw quite a few recommendations for this place. So we decided to try it.

We ordered a simple cheese and pepperoni pizza for a pick up order. When we picked it up, the top of the crust was black. Figured it was just the crust and brought it back to our hotel. Turns out, half of the bottom of the pizza was also black. Completely burnt and barely edible. If/when we come back to Pittsburgh, we won’t be returning here for pizza.

The fermented dough used in this delicious crust is a wonderful foundation for an incredible pizza. The sauce, cheese and all toppings are in line with the crust. We ordered a specialty pie with sausage and a couple different cheeses and took it back to car. The smell made me want to chew through the box to get the pizza. We will be back. This place has outdoor seating and counter service with an outdoor window. Love the pizza though.

The best pizza I’ve had in a while! They were very friendly and accommodating to a weird allergy I have.

The Philly cheese is the best I’ve had in town as well.

Overall, I am sad to say that my 9 year old and I weren’t impressed with the food. We had two pizzas as I wanted to try both New York and Old World styles. Both pizzas were cooked very well done to the point of almost being completely burnt on the bottom. I do not mind well done pizza, and absolutely appreciate a fully cooked pizza, but it doesn’t need to be burnt to be done. A little bit of char is good, while a lot can kill a pizza. These pies were a lot closer to the later than the former. Pizza sauce and cheese were decent, but very sparce, so it didn’t help especially when basically rendered damn near dry from overcooking. We also got the meatball app to try the meatballs and they were also underwhelming from a flavor standpoint. If you like plain meatballs that lack seasoning then you will like these. Meatball sauce was decent. In the end, not sure if our pizzas were an anomaly or not, but we were not impressed in the least. 3/10 from my son and 4/10 from myself.
