There is plenty of seating, its quiet, and a great place to bring your laptop to work.
The bakers section is incredible with delicous choices.
The coffee flavor profile is bold, mildy sweet tones, and I could drink it all day. Can’t wait to come back.
There is room for improvement; but the suggestion is a small one. I wish they had a couch in their seating plan. Also the music could be a bit quieter, for people who are staying to read or work. I’d still come back either way, and highly recommend it as an option for people looking for a coffee shop (especially in the Peru area).
Update: a month later and these folks continue to make fantastic improvements. Their coffee and food is consistently excellent.
The team puts a lot of effort into learning their craft and making great coffee. They truly care about what they do and it shows. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again! And we do! Don’t miss it!
What truly elevates the visit is the exceptional service from staff members like Cecilia, whose warm, attentive demeanor and genuine enthusiasm make every interaction memorable. She crafts each order with care, offers thoughtful recommendations, and creates a welcoming vibe that turns a simple coffee run into a highlight of the day—many customers credit her for making their experience truly special.
Overall, The Daily Grind excels at creating an inviting, community-focused atmosphere where delicious lattes, satisfying fresh bread breakfast sandwiches, and outstanding hospitality from folks like Cecilia come together for a truly enjoyable meal.
Amazing coffee, perfect service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stick around too long.
My only small comment on atmosphere is there is no art on the walls. I can tell aesthetic is important to them, but it would be cool to see some personal creativity in the mix.
I stopped at The Daily Grind on Route 6 this morning, and I’m officially saying it: this place is a gem in a cornfield.
Normally, I grab a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich from a national chain on the way to work. Same routine. Same “fine but forgettable” food. Today, I downloaded The Daily Grind app, shifted my route just a bit, and went for a pour-over of their Ethiopian beans (roasted in DePue) — and noticed they had a breakfast sandwich.
Friends… I swear this sandwich is on homemade bread, with the meltiest cheese, a perfectly seasoned egg, and ham that actually tastes like ham. Not microwaved. Not “warmed from frozen.” Just done right.
Here’s the kicker: coffee + sandwich + tip = about what I usually pay for a sub-par Americano and a chain breakfast sandwich.
The Daily Grind is tucked into the strip mall off Route 6 and Dalzell Blacktop, almost directly across from St. Bede. Easy to miss if you’re not looking — but you should be looking.
And let this sink in: Spring Valley now technically has FOUR coffee shops.
Add this one to the DO NOT MISS list.
Same owners as Spring Valley Bakery, and it shows. They do coffee and mornings right.
Highly recommend. Go get yourself a cup.
