Social Profile:
Sushi Totoro, the best sushi in the Santa Cruz area, is a fantastic place to enjoy the fusion cuisine that California is known for. Our innovative sushi rolls and appetizers highlight the fresh and creative flavors that make our restaurant unique.
Fresh Sushi: As sushi evolved outside Japan, it was influenced by different Western cultures, especially in the USA. This is why many types of sushi are named after localities in the USA.
Special Rolls: Many of the sushi rolls familiar to us in the United States are a Western take on Japanese Maki sushi. Even though they’re not traditional, it certainly doesn’t mean they lack flavor or creativity. At Sushi Totoro, we take pride in crafting these special rolls to delight your taste buds.
Quirky, laid-back sushi bar with creative rolls & classic Japanese entrees like teriyaki & udon.

We had such a great experience at Sushi Totoro! The dragon rolls were absolutely delicious—fresh and flavorful with the perfect balance of textures. The gyoza was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, just how we like it!
What really made our visit special was how much our kiddo loved the Totoro-theme. he chalk art on the walls kept us entertained while we waited for our food.
Overall, we were so impressed with both the food and the relaxed vibe. We’ll definitely be back for another family sushi night!

Delicious food and acceptably priced. Has acceptable quality sushi compared to other places in town (my palette for raw fish has been spoiled by growing up near San Francisco). Cute art on the walls and kind staff-but expect some waiting at the table.

Sushi was ok. The rolls looked different and pretty, but all kinda tasted the same. I did kinda like the thinner sliced sizes, but it did make hard them to stay together. Staff was nice. Sake was way too hot to drink or pick up. I had not been here in years.

First time here with the new management. There are lots of interesting rolls, but nothing sounded like my mood right then, so I described what I wanted and they made an exquisite custom roll for me. There was so much that my lunch companion (who ordered a very fresh & delicious salmon sashimi) got to share in the bounty and was equally pleased. The miso soup was also excellent. The chalk walls make for a fun atmosphere. The server and owner were great. We will be back soon!

I had no idea what I was walking into but this is by FAR the best sushi place I’ve ever been in. The portions are quite bit and very filling which is usually my issue with sushi restaurants. The staff was super fun to chat with and our food came out quick. Will be back again!!!

Can I rate this restaurant with more than 5 Stars? The whole experience for me was fantastic!!! From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted! We sat at the sushi bar and we were lucky enough to meet the owner Kenny! I also had the opportunity to experience awesome sushi by Josh! Our server Faith was also awesome as she stayed on top of our orders! I have been to many Sushi restaurants and boy let me tell you…this place is hands down the BEST I’ve had so far! We left most of our order up to the chef and everything he prepared was super delicious! My FAVE was the Sashimi! The next time I visit Santa Cruz, Sushi Totoro will be my first stop! The little hole in the wall with a HUGE heart!!!

Super cute & fairly priced Japanese restaurant in Santa Cruz! Their interior is covered in incredible Ghibli-themed black board drawings. Their agedashi tofu, miso soup, and dragon roll are absolutely delicious! Their lunch deals are also very worth it. Definitely recommend!

Salmon was perfect, beef was juicy and not too chewy. Solid 5/5 for me

We just stopped by in Santa Cruz for dinner and hit the bull-s eye. The miso soup was delicious, the sushi awesome and the guys very, very friendly. By far best sushi we have eaten on our road trip. It’s definitely a must.
Unfortunately, we won’t pass it again.
