I love the atmosphere and overall vibe here. The service was great with friendly and attentive staff. Decorations looked great for Christmas. Busy so we lucked out with getting seats at the bar. The food is what overall makes it not a hit for me. I got the Brazilian steak with house fries and my boyfriend got the smokehouse Mac and cheese with burnt ends. Neither were good. I left about 90% of the steak not even bothering to take it home. Bummed because it really seems like a cool place.

We went on a date night here tonight. It was outstanding. The servers were so attentive and the chef came by our table more than once. The drinks were absolutely delicious. We ordered mussels and chicken soulvaki for appetizers. It came out so fast. I had the Baxter burger and my husband ordered the Rueben. They were paired with crispy delicious hand cut fries and curry ketchup. It was delicious. Then for dessert we ordered the bananas foster which was the best I’ve ever had. The jazz band was so smooth. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you to our server Michelle as well. Awesome experience!

Wonderful brunch with unique food and an awesome pianist! The Bloody Mary was awesome. The Short Rib Eggs Benedict was phenomenal and an usual combination. The Pork Chops with macaroni and cheese was amazing; tender pork chop cooked perfectly and the best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever tasted. Service was friendly and helpful!
Went again and ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, it was wonderful! My friend loved her Chicken and Waffles.

This place has the BEST atmosphere! They have the most comfortable couches and the service is too notch.
They have music up top which looks like a good time but we came before it started.
We ordered the pornstar martini and campfire old fashioned. Forty dollars for two drinks! The old fashioned was good but you are paying for the ambiance. This place is cute and has the speak easy feel to it. The bathrooms are immaculately clean!!

Baxter’s 1892 in New Bern is absolutely phenomenal! From the moment we walked in, we felt like we had stepped into a New York jazz club. The building has been beautifully renovated with every detail thoughtfully considered. The food was exceptional, the cocktails were expertly crafted, and it was such a treat to see real champagne on the menu in New Bern! The staff were incredible—attentive, plentiful, and truly made us feel taken care of. While the prices are more elevated than your typical New Bern bar, every dollar is worth it. We never wanted for anything and can’t wait to go back!

Good vegetarian options. The stuffed portabella mushroom was very filling and delicious!!
The fish and chips was ok (my husband had it and said the fish needed some seasoning).

Went for drinks our first night in New Bern and loved the atmosphere.
Decided to return second night for dinner. Drinks were good. Their “Quincy Jones” piano guy was great. All was good until the food came…
Ordered Spanikopita and it was ice cold. Waitress took it back and off of our bill.
She replaced it with goat cheese and pita appetizer which was good.
Then we ordered the Reuben. It was terrible. Hardly any meat and it was extremely fatty.
I would recommend this place for drinks at the bar only and NOT for food.

It was a good place to hear live music; we had a private room that was nice, and bad. It was nice to spend quality time with my wife alone; the bad was you couldn’t see any of the music, you could only hear it through a speaker. The food was good, the drinks and dessert were outstanding overall its a unique spot

The food here was a little pricey for the portions but delicious. Loved the atmosphere. Their mocktails are quite good. I would reccomend this place for a cute date night. If you visit the dessert menu is the most coveted.
