I don’t know what the deal was tonight. I’ve been to Coleman’s many times over the last 30 years, always had excellent atmosphere, service, food, a great dining experience!
Tonight the experience was great wait staff was perfect, food came out in a timely matter, we weren’t rushed out, as the two of us stayed there and visited for quite some time after we got done eating etc.
I will say though that it was pretty dark in there, which still is a great mood atmosphere, but…. But, we had some issues with the food. I should have spoke up to the waitress and actually sent my girlfriend’s hot turkey sandwich back as she couldn’t cut the bread hardly, it was very hard….She took most of it home and didn’t realize that it was as tough as it was once she got there. Also we ordered a burger to go and ordered it medium rare.. since we were taking it with us, and it came to the table nicely packaged up into go containers we did not open it up in the restaurant and look in the box at all until we got home. We opened it up and it was as dark as a piece of charcoal! Way beyond even well done! Our son couldn’t even cut it with a knife, let alone bite into it! He didn’t wind up eating it at all because it was so overdone! I do have pictures which I can send you on this burger and the hot turkey sandwich….
I myself had scallops they were pretty good but they were pretty small in size, and the portion was not very many (in my opinion) for the money that they charge (which I Believe was $23 or $24) for that meal, and also they were a little overdone as they were a little tough to chew..
Overall the ambience and everything in the restaurant while we were there, was good, other than like I said it was a little dark but that’s okay, it made for a very nice ambience.. But I was disappointed with the food because I’ve never had that problem before! And for the $111.00 (& we didn’t have any alcoholic beverages, or any dessert, just the one cup of soup and two shrimp cocktails for appetizers andthe meals) and one of the meals basically was thrown away because it was also overdone and I do not believe the hot turkey sandwich will be consumed either (what we took home, which 3/4 of it), because once again, when it came to the table the bread that the sandwich bread it was on was very tough. And also we noticed that it was not fresh cut turkey or anything, that it looks like sliced turkey breast from a grocery store meat case.
I’ve never had this experience with Coleman’s before though I have not been in there in a few years but I was disappointed also that they didn’t have corned beef at this time, especially since that’s normally what I always get there because it is so good and they’re very famous for it! I guess thats how the story goes….
I will say the shrimp cocktails were good and so was the soup that we ordered a cup of…
Just disappointed as I’ve always had good meals at Coleman’s locations and (Syracuse and Watertown.)
And I was a little disappointed cuz I wanted to show the place off to my girlfriend! She had never been in any colemans before!
I am usually one never to complain, that’s why I didn’t bring up stuff when we were still in the restaurant, as I have worked retail for over 30 years and I know how customers can be! I did not warrant doing anything while we were there, and probably wouldn’t have if we hadn’t gotten home and seen the condition of that burger and the bread on the hot turkey sandwich wasn’t so tough when she showed me…
I do feel however, that this needed to be brought to your attention about saying that this in any way has been my past experience at Coleman’s That’s why I was surprised!

Oh My Word People!!! There are no words to describe how this place is close to my heart! Because I travel I only eat here once or twice every couple of years but it is always delicious!!!!!!! Take all my money! This is one of my favorites in the US!

Had a wonderful evening here with the family. The calamari was divine; super crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside with great flavor. The addition of the peppers with the calamari was on point. The burger looked delicious and the beef dip was great as well. The corn beef and cabbage was lacking. The corn beef had great flavor – but over half of my beef was just fat, which was a little disappointing. I also got the butt end of the cabbage and it definitely needed some salt along with the potatoes. The broth was delicious. We got the carrot cake, gingerbread cheesecake, and egg nog cheesecake. They were all very well made and tasted great. My favorites were the egg nog cheesecake and the carrot cake. Overall a really great experience.

Coleman’s is awesome all around. Great atmosphere during the day and great service from Cassandra! She let us eat our appetizer before rushing our meals to us. I had the Reuben and my wife the New York Pastrami. Both were delicious. I think the star of the show was the “house sauce” that came with my wife’s sweet potato fries. It was sweet and tangy but the recipe is a secret. Shame. I’m hoping they sell it by the gallon. Definitely recommend for anyone in the area. We WILL be back!!!

In town due to work. Decided to try this place. Cool building and decor. We had the Steak, Portabello app,Scallops and Calamari. Everything was really good but scallops a little dry and small. We sat at the bar Jasmine our bartender seemed less than thrilled to be there. Her service was satisfactory but her dry personality..eh not very welcoming..but besides that we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere

My spouse and I were looking for a place to eat for our anniversary, so we chose this place and were blown away by the food and service. I had the Jameson Whiskey Bleu Burger which was cooked through really well and tasted exactly how you’d expect it to. My spouse wanted a blue sirloin steak and was given a well done, our server helped us get the right cook on it and we were very appreciative of that. Would recommend this place 20/20 times 🙂
