Idk what to say, if I say the way I saw it, it could be detrimental, but if I praise this place, I would be lying to myself.
Here it goes: the place is designed for people who live there, you can tell the environment by eating there, if you want the experience and to see a reflection of that town, go ahead sit and order.

It depends on what you’re looking for, of course. For what it is, this place is ok. We had the fish fry. The fish itself was really good. The sides were ok. My husband was pretty happy with his potato pancake. My American fries were painfully thin, which didn’t really lend itself to be good for fried potatoes. My husband had the chili soup, which he seemed to be satisfied with. I chose a salad which was super super chunky: Iceberg lettuce a hunk of cucumber and a hunk of tomato. Meh.
As for service, it was very spotty. The place didn’t look that busy to me, but I had to remind our waitress a few times about things we requested. Lemon for my fish, since I don’t eat tartar sauce. I asked for hot tea, which eventually came, but with not very hot water. A different waitress actually took some of the empty dishes from our crowded table.
I don’t know if I want to go back there. We might give it another chance on another occasion. The fish was really good.

Absolutely disgusting… Smells like sewage & isnt clean at all inside or out. I honestly couldn’t believe that I watched one of Jefferson county’s judges eat there. And with the Jefferson Fire department DIRECTLY next door and this death trap of a grease fire waiting to happen facing their entrance is ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING to me.

The food was good. We had a variety of breakfast and some had lunch. The only criticism would be that they bake their potatoes in aluminum foil. Which is fine but Then they cut through the foil to cut the potato in half. The foil should always be taken off before cutting as there were several tiny pieces of foil in the potato. That is not something you want to bite into.

What a Great value… I’ve been trying other places for Friday Fish Fry, I have have two words for them: ” Price Gouging”! Most other places you get two “little” Pcs of cod, chips are free but any kind of potato is a $4 upcharge, tartar sauce is $.50 upcharge,1/2 pc of bread, and two bites of coleslaw…… Start price of $13.50 for this.
Jefferson Cafe: 4 Pc fish, extra tartar sauce NC, Baked Potato(sour cream and butter NC), veggie, and coleslaw!!!! PLUS a Senior discount. They are the best.
I’m hopeful this gets out to the other Fish Fry’s out there that are shooting themselves in the foot, sort of speaking. Anyways they have burned the bridge for me….

I live in Madison (but I grew up in Jefferson) and this is THE BEST place for Friday (and Wednesday) fish and/or chicken combo meals. Nowhere else offers what they have at the price. We order every other Friday and drive out (35 minute drive each way) and pick it up. Service is exceptional most of the time (yea, they get it wrong once in awhile, I can forgive them). I have had other food from their menu too and have dined in as well, and you always get a great meal. Can’t find this kind of place anywhere around Madison, worth the drive.
