1/21/16 – Decided to go to Robust one more time before they close at the end of the month. There are rumors that the restaurant might be acquired by the chef and reopen after some renovations. This unique wine bar restaurant offers various wine selections and some wine combos. I had the Chardonnay flight “Chardonnay or should I go”. My favorite Chardonnay was the 2024 Fess Parker with a light oak and a little fruit flavor. Easy drinking and a good mouth feel. My entrée was the beef bourguignon special. It was a velvety beef soup with carrots, potatoes and pearl onions. I added the Robust salad with a champagne vinaigrette mixed with pink peppercorns, Pecorino and Marcona almonds. Everything was delicous and moderately priced. This location was /is a great place to share a good wine and a charcuterie board. Aiden was our server he guided us through our main meal professionally and with courtesy Try to visit before they close. I recommend this restaurant.

3 Stars – Great Wine, Good Service… But the Food?
Robust Bistro Wine Bar has a solid wine selection—impressive and thoughtfully curated. The service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. But unfortunately, the food was a big letdown. In my opinion, it looked and tasted like hospital food. I honestly can’t even explain it—it just didn’t match the vibe or quality of the wines or service. If you’re going for drinks and a chill atmosphere, it works. But if you’re expecting a memorable dining experience, the food might disappoint.

We had a small group enjoy delicious wines and solid food on the Robust patio. Our group loved the countless pages of wine options, as well as the wine flight option. However, the food left much to be desired. I would recommend the charcuterie boards (we did the robust sampler) and the pimento mac & cheese. The shrimp & grits were okay. Definitely not your traditional take on the dish, as rice is used. Don’t know if that was a mistake or if they ran out of grits but definitely disappointing. The dish still had good flavor, but for the price point, I just expected more. The rest of our group was also not thrilled with their main course. Overall, would recommend solely for the atmosphere of the outdoor patio, wine selection. Then, order the boards/appetizers to snack on.
Side note: the dinner menu online is outdated as some of the options were not listed on the current menu.

First time visiting this charming wine bar and we were blown away! For starters, our server, Billy, was not only very knowledgeable about wines, but also passionate about describing the food menu. And we were quite impressed with the food. I chose the Chicken Cordon Bleu flatbread, which was delicious. My husband had Croque Madame which he said was “hands down” the absolute best. We never order dessert, but Billy did such a good job describing the dessert selections, we both ordered the bread pudding which was SOOO good! It was such a pleasant evening; there was live music and we were not rushed at all. Many times we have walked out of a restaurant, dropped a lot of money, had only been in there for about 45 minutes and were barely greeted by the staff. This was the exact opposite. Even the chef came out to say hello! We will definitely be returning and we highly recommend Robust for your next date night.

We started with the Baked Goat Cheese. The goat cheese was made with spicy tomato sauce, sherry vinegar, and garlic oil. I was concerned it may be too spicy but it wasn’t. On a scale of 10 the spiciness was a 2, not spicy. The goat cheese was delicious with lots of flavors. It came with bruschetta pieces to scoop the goat cheese. I ordered the petite beef tenderloin for my entree. The beef tenderloin was 6oz cooked medium with asparagus, mushrooms, and potatoes. The bad news is the beef tenderloin was not tender which was disappointing. The potatoes were sliced and pressed together and they looked like slices of a biscuit. The potatoes were seasoned well and were delicious. The asparagus and mushrooms were cooked perfectly and nicely complimented the dish. My date ordered the artichoke gratin and had chicken added to the dish. I was amazed at how flavorful it was. The chicken was tender and it was a great addition to the dish.
We had an amazing waitress. We had tickets to The Rep so she kept us on schedule. She was helpful and very friendly.
This is a fun restaurant and we’ll be back.

Billy provided the most excellent service! He is truly amazing at his job and I’d certainly recommend asking for him. The band that played yesterday was also wonderful. Overall such a great experience with delicious food and drinks!

A great relaxing environment with great outdoor seating space to enjoy live music! Very nice selection of wine flights to enjoy with cheese and charcuterie plates. Service is excellent with friendly smile all the way. Big plate Entree selection is somewhat limited but there is good selection of shareable to enjoy. Definitely a place worth visiting for fun wine experience!

I have loved coming here for years. Outdoor seating is the best, but in the cold of winter the indoors is wonderful as well. Highly recommend the wine flights which allow you to amply sample a trio of wines (and although the names of the flights don’t change the wines included do). I would say most of the dishes are “tapas” style making it perfect for dining as one or with a group.

The wine is GREAT, but the appetizers are just OK. Appetizers are very small portions with high prices. Go to enjoy a great glass of wine, but don’t go hungry.

Excellent small plates. The spinach and artichoke dip was probably the best I’ve ever had. The crab cakes were all so very good. What’s most impressive is the creativity of the cocktails- I wish I lived in MO so I could keep going back.
