Decided we wanted pizza but wanted to try something new outside of our traditional place. I have to say, choosing to try Mama Mel’s Pizzeria was an amazing choice.
We ordered for pickup, and they were very nice and helpful on the phone. When I went to pick it up, the inside was super clean and nice. I was greeted as soon as I walked in; everyone was friendly from the moment we arrived until the time we left.
We ordered the garlic cheese bread, a cheese pizza, and a sausage and jalapeño Detroit-style pizza. It was flat-out amazing—hot, fresh, and just a great taste. If you have not tried this place, you should surely give it a shot. We did, and we could not be happier. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu!”

Food is a 6 out of 5 stars but they carded me to use my debit card, I haven’t been carded like that for over 15 years maybe 20. I felt singled out by the cashier, and the first time I went here I was not required to provide id. Ridiculous. That said the thin crust and deep dish pizzas are some of the best in the whole damn country, you have to try it.

This is some of the best pizza I have had in all of the Lou. Super fresh ingredients, hot melty mozzarella cheese, super puffy crust with a super crispy edge and great home made tomato sauce. If you like something besides thin crust cracker pizza, this is a must visit!!! I was very impressed!!!

The Detroit style deep dish was very good -thick crust with lots of sauce and cheese, and cooked to perfection. Garlic cheese bread was great too – very savory and cheesy, with a hint of garlic that didn’t overwhelm the taste.
We dined in, and while the place is a little small, it didn’t feel cramped with another party occupying a table nearby.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The price seemed reasonable and we didn’t have to wait too long to get our food, which came out hot and fresh.
An easy recommendation, can’t wait to try more of their menu the next time around.

Check your order before you leave! Was really looking forward to Mama Mel’s Pizza. Called order in, Pizza and a Delux salad, they repeated it back to me, told me it would be 45 minutes, I gave them 75 minutes. Get there, all good, get my order, only to get home and my salad is wrong. Ordered the Delux salad and I received the House salad. Called to let someone know about the mistake and got sick of being on hold,so I just hung up.Besides, I wasn’t going to drive back 20 minutes for a new one. You guys should have someone check orders before you hand them off to the customer. Disappointing! To whoever reads this-Check your order before you leave Mama Mel’s Pizza.

Stopped by Mama Mel’s on Lemay with my wife and another couple. Overall, it was a solid experience, but not a place I’d go out of my way for.
The pizza had good flavor, and the service was fast, especially considering the owner mentioned they were down 2–3 staff members. Even with things feeling a little hectic, the team handled it well.
The owner was very friendly, and the other employees were nice, too. They also seemed to stay consistently busy, and from what I saw, customers were generally happy both dining in and heading out.
As for the food, my main issue was the crust, which could use some improvement in my opinion. It was a bit dense.
It was also one of those pizzas where the toppings slide off when you take a bite, which made it a bit messy (and definitely led to the classic “lava-hot pepperoni” moment).
The dining area is very small (about 5–6 tables), and while it was clean and functional, the atmosphere felt a bit bland.
It was also very loud inside since the acoustics make conversations carry, so it can feel like everyone’s shouting.
Prices were okay, but a little on the pricey side for what we got.
Oh, and if you want to save 3% bring cash. They charge you 3% whether credit or debit.

The best Detroit style pizza we’ve ever had! Nice sweet sauce and perfect crust. Seating is limited and you may have to wait a bit for your food, but it is well worth the wait! Super friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

My partner and I just tried Mama Mel’s for the first time and was not disappointed at all. The small Pepperoni pizza was very good and filling for the size. The toasted ravioli were also very tasty.
The price was very affordable for 2 people as well. Staff inside were very friendly and welcoming as well. We will definitely be going here again!!
