Our server “Alanda” was phenomenal!!! I would come back just because of her!!! She was very personable, kept checking on us, smiled and used tons of courtesy phrases. She has extremely good customer service!!!

Food was top tier!!! Cauliflower was spectacular. Catfish was fried very crispy and the cheese grits were very good.
Smoked half chicken is no joke (chicken shouldn’t be this good), the okra and fingerling potatoes were nicely seasoned. Everything was piping hot!

Friends flight was delayed and I decided to stop here. OMG the food was delicious, had the wing platter with crispy Brussels sprouts and fries.

Wings were perfect the sauces I chose were Dr Pepper Bbq (not a fan, it was very chile guajillo tasting, so if you like Smokey flavors then great) but their hot buffalo was very good. I love that they let me have the sauces on the side bc I’m very picky.

The fried perfect crispy and seasoned.

The star of the show though were those crispy Brussel sprouts. They were perfectly seasoned, crispy, had pork bits in there.

They also gave me a lemonade to go complimentary. It was a little pricey though but worth it.

The food was pretty good. I had shrimp and grits and it was so many onions, peppers etc that it was a bit overwhelming. The biscuits were good and fresh but my husband didn’t like the spread they came with, they didn’t have traditional jelly as an option. There were 3 young people behind the host station and several tables needed to be cleared. I was distracted most of my visit by operational concerns really. Things like more people could be seated at tables of they were cleared and reset. The only options were outside, high top tables or the bar since no one was cleaning tables. It was a nice place, the guy behind the bar worked really hard and was all over the business and outside working. Would likely visit again if I’m in the area again.

I had a great first time experience at It’s a Southern Thing! We made a reservation ahead of time and once we arrived, we were seated. The parking was super convenient with a free lot that had plenty of accessible spaces. They have outside patio seating which is nice on a warm day. We went on a busy Sunday and there was a little wait for the bathroom as there are only 2 gender neutral stalls.

The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. As for the food, it did not disappoint! I loved the chicken and waffles and the garden omelet with hash browns. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy & were a surprise highlight of our meal. My friend ordered the smoked wings and raved about how flavorful they were.

This is a spot I’d recommend for a laid-back yet delicious brunch, especially on weekends or Sundays. Great vibes, great food, and great service!

Great selection of tasty southern fare. Loved the shrimp & grits in a bowl and the generous portion of fried catfish over rice and collard greens! Later had blackened chicken quesadillas with pickled jalapeño and onions salad!

Overall, it was a delightful experience. The highlight of my meal was the crab dip—absolutely amazing, creamy, and packed with flavor. The catfish was deliciously fried, perfectly crispy, but I was less impressed with the sides of mashed potatoes and beans, which didn’t quite match the quality of the fish.

The shrimp and grits, however, were outstanding—rich and comforting, truly a standout dish.

Had a couple of old fashioneds— well made but $18.50 each…I thought it was a bit steep…

To add to the ambiance, a one-man band performed live, showcasing exceptional talent. However, the acoustics in the restaurant left something to be desired, making it difficult to fully enjoy the music.

Overall, Southern Food offers some fantastic dishes and a lively atmosphere, but a few tweaks could elevate the dining experience even further!

The hostess was welcoming, we had a reservation and were seated promptly once a majority of our party arrived. Our waiter was not overly bubbly but he was attentive at getting our drinks, starters and entrees to us. The selections were different and good. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks we chose. This location had a parking lot available for parking. Our food came out appropriate for our occasion.

My first visit here did not disappoint. On this visit I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes for my appetizer, they were very good. My best friend and I opted for the bottomless Mimosas that are worth ordering, especially for brunch and girl talk . For my entree I chose the Shrimp and Grits. The portion was plentiful and it tasted delicious, nice and savory with bits of sausage in a spoonful. Just the right amount of shrimp that were a good size also. My best friend liked her meal as well, which were the wings for her appetizer and the charcuterie board with sausage and breakfast potatoes on the side. I really like that with the bottomless mimosas they have a server dedicated to refilling your glass. Our waiter was nice and attentive and our food did not take too long to arrive. This location has good seating options, indoor and outdoor, and there is a big parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. I look forward to bringing my loved ones to It’s A Southern Thing soon.

I was looking for southern style food & I saw they had great reviews. They are worth every great review! We loved the crab dip, the wings, the ribs, the chicken, & the catfish was one of the best we’ve ever had!! They have so many great options, it was hard to choose. Thankfully we all got something different & shared our dishes. Our server Anthony was great also! He was extremely helpful & on point with everything!!

So refreshing to taste food made with pride.
Nothing here is average.
Everything we had was exceptional.
Original recipes, scratch made creations, and great service.
We had fried green tomatoes with house made pimento cheese. Perfection
We also had country fried steak and a jalapeno marinated chicken sandwich, home cut fries, and house breaded fresh okra.
Everything excellent and tasty.
We will be back!!
